Not what was expected,
By Prini "Prini" (Wyoming) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Deconstructing Psychopathology (Paperback)
This was required reading for my Master's level Psychopathology class. I anticipated to learn a great deal about psychopathology, but I was severly dissappointed. Despite the raving reviews from a few sources from above and most I had not encountered until now, this piece of work was found to be biased and a waste of time for me as the reader. The entire book ran in circles using antiquated sources to tell me that madness does not exist. Since there is no madness, there is no psychopathology. Using information from the 14th century seemed a 'little' outdated to me but I even wrote to the main author to inquire the purpose of the book. I did not receive a reply.
My entire course was based upon that book and sadly, I learned nothing about psychopathology. I have done my own research to learn about this topic. If I had a choice regarding reading this book, I would have declined after reading a review like mine where a student tells the truth, as they see it, and explains if this is considered a classic to someone, boy do I have a bridge I would like to interest you in.... I wanted to give NO stars, but the site will not allow me to do that.

Although this book apparently has some good information, and I do like and agree with the concepts, I don't like the writing. If your learning style is not reading, this book is not for you.
