A great little cozy,

This review is from: Decorated to Death (An Interior Design Mystery) (Paperback)
If you liked Peg Marberg's first book, "Faux Finished", you'll love "Decorated to Death", the second in her series. This little "cozy" is a fun read - just the right size to tuck in your bag on a cross country trip. It's not Hemingway, or even Stephen King (hey, did I mention it's a "cozy"?)but it is fun to read - no real blood and gore or autopsies - just a mystery set in a small midwestern town (Seville, Indiana)with lots of eccentric characters. Peg Marberg has a good ear for dialogue and, if some of her chracters are "over the top", so much the better. I look forward to the next book in the series.

A well-patterned death,
This review is from: Decorated to Death (An Interior Design Mystery) (Paperback)
If mysteries are your thing but you can't stand gore Peg Marberg has a mystery for you. Set in the small town of Seville, Indiana, you'll want to join Peg's zany characters as they try to solve a mystery without getting blood on their hands, or on the freshly painted walls!

I really hoped the second would be better than the first...but it's not,

"Irish intuition"
"Irish luck" "Little kees" constant identification of what street each of the seemingly hundreds of characters lives on (why???) continual verbal attacks on her sister-in-law's eating habits (why this woman hasn't popped the obnoxious main character is a bigger mystery than the purported murder) the ridiculous character names obtrusive decorating tips in the middle of action scenes And the list of problems (for me) goes on and on and on and on. I won't be trying anymore titles in this series.

I have read two of these interior design mysteries so far. I think they are fine, but simplistic and in each case, I figured out the culprit long before she did. There was no real suspense for me. I probably won't buy another, but if you are looking for a quick, easy read, they might be perfect for that.

Peg Marberg sure has what it takes to be a mystery writer. A very enjoyable book and am looking forward to Fatal Flip.
