Experimentalism was everywhere, and many projects, thought not practical, were forward-thinking visions of a new kind of decorative art and design. Various groups advocated returning to natural methods, rejecting style in favor of craft or pushing the logic of industrial living to its concrete, high-rise extreme. "Decorative Arts 1970s" includes the work of the decade's brightest stars, such as Afra and Tobia Scarpa, Luigi Coltani, Ettore Sottsass, Achille Castiglioni, Kisho Kurokawa, Norman Foster, Richard Meier, and Theo Crosby.

Charlotte J. and Peter M. Fiell run a design consultancy in London specializing in the sale, acquisition, study and promotion of design artifacts. They have lectured widely, curated a number of exhibitions, and written numerous articles and books on design and designers, including TASCHEN'S 1000 Lights, 1000 Chairs, Design of the 20th Century, Industrial Design A-Z, Designing the 21st Century, and Scandinavian Design.

Don't get mistaken for what this book is. It's just a picture book. That's it. If you get bored looking at Ikea ads, then don't get this book. I actually read the Ikea catalog for entertainment purposes, so I'm not normal. This book is awesome. Great coffee table book.

This is a good guide which I can recommend, however references can be confusing and lacking in detail. Whilst I appreciate it is impossible to include all designers, I would have liked to see the inclusion of several not included.
