4.0 out of 5 stars nice clip art and inspiration
There are 1-2 pages for each letter, with around 12 designs per page. The letters are given in different sizes but, of course, can easily be resized for your project. The designs resize well. They are clean, attractive, and usually varied, though there is a heavy emphasis on floral patterns. A few of the alphabet styles are over-represented, as a creative mind would not...

1.0 out of 5 stars do not recommend the Decorative Initials
This book is deceptive. Only the front cover is in color, the rest of the book consists of black outline of uppercase/lower case letters. About 3/4 designs per letter of the alphabet. The designs are of different size, so one needs to photocopy and enlarge/reduce to get an event font size.

They are clean, attractive, and usually varied, though there is a heavy emphasis on floral patterns. A few of the alphabet styles are over-represented, as a creative mind would not have much trouble constructing one letter from the style of another. These are truly fancy letters, not just recreations of fonts found all over the internet.

Yes, there could have been many more designs and a somewhat more varied selection. But this slim book is very nice as far as it goes and is great for inspiring one.

5.0 out of 5 stars very useful book, September 25, 2011

This review is from: Decorative Initials (Design Source Books) (Paperback)
This little book has some lovely initial ideas that I plan on use for my embroidery. A which is one of the letters I want to use has 23 different variations. Each one has a different style for example there's one as a cat which is really cute. Another A has an apple on it.One is in the shape of a bent pencil with a paint brush for a line. S has 24 variations also including a cat. There are also several flowers and stars on other Ss. The initials are big enough so they don't need to be enlarged. It's all black and white. Very tasteful book.
