4.0 out of 5 stars Loved it!
I am not sure what readers are looking for in books these days, but I REALLY enjoyed this book. I am an avid Urban Fiction Reader and I have come across several books by different authors with the same story just different characters. Decoys, Inc was my twist, I didn't need to know detail for detail what happened in Deeva's past relationship and I didn't question why she...

Decoys was aiight. It was entertaining and the characters kept you going and enjoying the flow of it. The story line was interesting as well. However, it was just too cliché and almost corny and a little underdeveloped. That is why I gave it three and a half stars.

Nevertheless, Deeva and her friends are relatable in every sense and their relationships are what all friendships have experience at one point in time. One friend in particular is just down right trifling though and is the essence of what Bob Marley was preaching in Who the Cap Fits. Ms. Lony is my favorite, especially when he and Cara are together.

I enjoyed this story, even though it didnt blow me away like I thought it would.I agree that there could have been more character/story development, but overall It kept my attention. She could have added more twists and turns to the ending as well.

3.0 out of 5 stars The Set-Up, April 15, 2009

After being fired from her job, Deeva McCoy knew she had to find another job soon to pay her bills. While home watching an episode on a talk show of unsuspecting men who are set up by decoys, she gets an idea to open her own business, Decoys, Inc. She thought she would be successful doing this because she was good at spotting cheating men. Her business flourishes as women are hiring her expertise to see if their men are cheaters.

Deeva meets Tristan Savage and after spending a wonderful weekend together a relationship quickly develops. Deeva`s heart is in jeopardy when a new client enters her office and hires her to setup Tristan. Against her better judgment Deeva continues her relationship with Tristan, but when Tristan finds out about her work and that he may have been set up, their relationship may not survive.

While reading the book there were some slow moments and it had the potential for more story development. For example, I would have like to read more of the blossoming of Deeva and Tristan's romance instead of them quickly falling in love. However, DECOYS, INC. delivers to its readers lots of drama, and I did enjoy reading it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Loved it!, March 26, 2009

I am not sure what readers are looking for in books these days, but I REALLY enjoyed this book. I am an avid Urban Fiction Reader and I have come across several books by different authors with the same story just different characters. Decoys, Inc was my twist, I didn't need to know detail for detail what happened in Deeva's past relationship and I didn't question why she feel really quickly for Tristan. What happened to Love at 1st site, haven't we all been in Tristan's situation before. Sure we have and the story was so real until I didn't question any of the characters motives. I was SO MAD at Tristan for getting that mad at Deeva, although I did think she needed to tell him before. And LORD have mercy Lisa - I could feel myself slapping her through the pages of the books. Cheekes you've done it again. Keep up the good work!

4.0 out of 5 stars Decoys Inc., November 3, 2008
This review is from: Decoys, Inc. (Paperback)
At the start of the story we are introduced to Deeva McCoy who has gotten fired from her job. While at home,Deeva gets caught up in a popular daytime talk show where unsuspecting men are set up by decoys on live tv.Deeva was always good about spotting cheaters back then and that gives Deeva an idea in which Deeva and her friends brainstorm and get the business up and running and lots of women her paying her to see if their men are cheating. She meets Tristan Savage and they seem to hit it off really good until the weekend they spent together is over and then Monday morning rolls around and a woman comes in requesting that Deeva investigate Tristan.Deeva continues to see Tristan but Tristan finds out about the line of work she's in and their relationship is at risk. Will Deeva and Tristan be able to work it out or will he let Deeva go?I really enjoyed this book as with the other Shonda Cheekes other books.

3.0 out of 5 stars It was just OK!, November 13, 2008
This review is from: Decoys, Inc. (Kindle Edition)
I was a fan of Shonda Cheeks' previous books Another Man's Wife and In the Midst of it All. I really liked those two books. This book was a little slow and lacked story development. There could have been lots more character dialogue. The story went from chapter to chapter with so much missing information. For instance, Deeva and Tristan just fell in love so fast with not much dialogue leading up to the romance. Also, there could have been more information on how Deeva and Tristan's son TJ became so close. At least a chapter with her taking him to the zoo, skating, the movies or something to show why he just loved Deeva and wanted her to be his Mommy! I can't really explain what was missing other than, the story needed more chapters developing the relationships. I was so happy to see that Shonda had released another book and I'm sorry to say, I was a bit disappointed! I will continue to read her books; but, hopefully they will get better. Sorry, just keepin it real!
