One of the best straight ahead Jazz releases of 1998.,
By A Customer
This review is from: Dedication (Audio CD)
This disc was one of the pleasant surprises of 1998. I buy a lot of jazz CDs and this one ranks as one of the best of the year. In addition to the impeccable playing of Mr. Gomez and the re-appearance of Jeremy Steig (haven't heard from him in ages) on two tracks, I think the real star of this disc is pianist Stefan Karlsson. I hope we hear a lot more from Mr. Karlsson in the near future.

Anyone who loves acoustic bass in a jazz context will adore this album. Great standards played with rhythmic and harmonic flair that only the best of the best can muster. Eddie Gomez is certainly in that select group. Of special interest are Eddie's wonderful versions of Nardis and Footprints on this CD. Not everything Eddie recorded as a leader is stellar, but this one is certainly is.
