5.0 out of 5 stars ABSOLUTE PURE MAGIC! BUY IT NOW!, March 22, 2002

(REAL NAME)
This review is from: Dedicato a Milva da Ennio Morricone (Audio CD)
TWO SUPREME ARTISTS AT THE TOP OF THEIR FORM. Here we have international superstar Milva--one of the great voices of our time--and brilliant, original Maestro Morricone, together, conjuring a magical musical extravanza. The Maestro arranges and conducts some of his most beautiful and melodic pieces and Milva lends her powerful, full-range vocals to perfectly complement these selections. Her voice actually melds with the music, at times seeming like an instrument which was perfectly selected, which couldn't possibly fit the music better. Imaginative phrasing and classic Morricone touches and flourishes from that very special early-to-mid-seventies period. Full, rich orchestra. It's impossible to describe how delicious Milva's rendition of "Metti una sera a cena" is, how powerful the building vocal of "Viaggio senza bagagli." how incredibly beautiful and haunting "Mia madre si chiama Francesca," and "Immagini del Tempo" come across. Here you will find the definitive vocal version of "Chi mai," one of the great Maestro's most beautiful, and, to Europeans, most familiar melodies. The melody of "D'amore si muore" will take your breath away and will stay with you for a lifetime. This album belongs in EVERY music-lover's home!! Don't miss out...order it now!

4.0 out of 5 stars Milva sings Morricone, November 5, 2007
This review is from: Dedicato a Milva da Ennio Morricone (Audio CD)
While the sound recording could be better, the Italian diva does a beautiful rendition of some of Morricone's classis pieces. Both artitst are the true cream of the crop in Italian music of the 60's and 70's. Expressive, melodic,70's.

(VINE VOICE)
This review is from: Dedicato a Milva da Ennio Morricone (Audio CD)
Album that famous Ennio Morricone composed as a tribute to Milva - one of the best pop voices in Italy at the time - with intention not to create hits but cinematic sweep that would compliment her rich, deep voice.
I'ts all very theatrical and laced with grandiose but carefully detailed orchestration, just as one would expect from Morricone,it must have been pleasure for Milva to work with this composer as he really approached this project with seriousness and intellectual curiosity, his own Wall of Sound clashing with lady's powerful contra-alto.
Only one really radio-friendly song (closing "Se Ci Sara") that sounds like usual Milva music - in other words, euro-pop - and this comes almost like afterthought as some of other songs on this album are far more interesting and demanding (Bossa Nova "Metti Una Sera A Cena", strangely moody and atmospheric "Mia Madre Si Chiama Francesca") even placing of this song at the end shows it came as something that was obligatory and composer could have written it in his sleep.
Nice gift from one artist to another and not only it has legendary Morricone's cinematic touch in orchestration but it is a pleasure to hear lady's voice, really great singer.
