excellent sound system session,
By John M. Schultz (Long Beach, NY United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Dee-Jay Explosion (Audio CD)
This is strictly dancehall, not ragga. Rough and tough in a 1982 style. No digital rhythms here. From the Rough Guide: A live dancehall session recorded in Clinton 'Jingles' Davey's reknowned Skateland, featuring Gemini Disco as the sound, and the cream of 1982's chatting talent...kicking off with four cuts of Gussie's "Pass The Kouchie" rhythm, before some serious Studio One dubplates, the recording captures the feel of the period where it mattered the most.

Rancho Musico : a Dee Jay Explosion,
By A Customer
This review is from: Dee-Jay Explosion (Audio CD)
1982 : The first ragga comes to France and we are thousands listening "a Dee Jay Explosion", natural, new, the begining of ragga. 1982 : les premiers ragga arrivent en france et nous sommes des milliers a ecouter "a Dee Jay Explosion". Naturel, innovation, improvisation, la genese du ragga (dont les premiers enregistrements dates pourtant de 1969).
