Book Description

Leisure historical romance December 2004

The deliciously witty first novel from Lynsay Sands

Lady Emmalene Eberhart wanted to do it. She’d even begged an audience with the King so that he would order her husband to do it— because she was determined to be a good wife. But then her husband died, and Emma remained a virgin.

Now the innocent young beauty finds herself with an ample dowry and promised to Amaury de Aneford, a landless knight whose able sword helped defend the King’s crown. Surely her new husband would want to do the deed, for his rugged good looks certainly make Emma’s heart skip more than a beat. And Emma suspects there is more to a wedding night than just a sound sleep . . . and more to true love than she ever imagined.

5.0 out of 5 stars Get Ready to Laugh Your A** Off! Triple A+ Fun!, January 19, 2001
This review is from: The Deed (Leisure historical romance) (Mass Market Paperback)
Lynsay Sands is a relatively new author but she is the type of author who will be around for many years to come! A while back I was in the mood for a really funny medieval book... two were recommended to me - Love at First Sight by Sandra Lee and The Deed by Lynsay Sands. Both books are fabulous but I must admit that The Deed has something extra special. The author has a way of involving you in the story that will surprise you and captivate you. She is absolutely wonderful and she is already an "autobuy" for me!

The thing that I remember the most about The Deed (I read it quite a while ago) was I felt as though I was running a marathon. My heart was pumping, my mind was racing and I couldn't catch my breath (because I was laughing so hard) - and this was all in the first chapter! The story is about Lady Emmaline Eberhart's desire to have her husband commit the "deed" and yes I am talking about SEX! She even pleads with the King to force him to do his "duty" to her. Unfortunately her husband dies and she is ordered to remarry. If her new husband does not perform the "deed" quickly she will lose her inheritance to her late husband's cousin... this particular scene is priceless and if you choose not to read this book at least read the first two chapters. I promise you that you will be rolling on the floor laughing!

Lady Emmaline Eberhart is determined not to remain an innocent and trust me "innocent" is too strong a word for her. She has beauty and grace and at times she semms a bit silly but you can't help to love her (probably because of her talent for making you laugh... how could you dislike someone who makes you smile so much) and the things she does to Amaury are hysterical. I laughed with this book from beginning to end and now that I think about it I can't help but smiling!

Amaury de Aneford is gorgeous (did you have a doubt?) who also happens to be a landless knight who is willing to marry solely for the purpose of obtaining a home - the most important thing to him. Little did he realize the wife he was gaining would steal his heart.

I will love this book for the laughs it brought me. If you are afraid to laugh in public do not read this book anywhere but behind closed doors! You won't be able to stop yourself... it is that funny!

5.0 out of 5 stars This is going to make you Laugh....Teriffic, January 16, 2000
This review is from: The Deed (Paperback)
This book was the best that I have read in a month. It was so funny and comical, but it really shows the difference in the thought process of a man and a woman. I couldn't stop laughing when Emmalene went before the king to have the king order her husband to have sex with her. I was laughing so hard my husband thought something was wrong with me. Then the part where the people are standing outside the door and yell "Is the Deed Done?" every two minutes was just cracking me up. So the jist of this little review is, if you love a good laugh and a cute story, READ THIS BOOK. But be forwarned that if you get embarresed about showing emotion in public, don't read this is a public place. This book is good for an evening by the fire or while your husband is watching so boring tv show on WW II planes. This book is a true delight to read and a must read for everyone.

5.0 out of 5 stars CAN'T WAIT TO GET MY HANDS & EYES ON HER UPCOMING NOVEL....., January 1, 2000
This review is from: The Deed (Paperback)
With only less than half a dozen books, Ms. Sands has proved herself to be a writer of enormous talents. She pens memorable, fascinating heroes & heroines, and the silly plot filled with gallons of humor. In her debut, I found the most outrageous & ticklishly funny wedding & bedding scenes I've ever read. Definitely not the kinda book U wanna read in public ( like the airport ), unless you're willing to subject yourself to odd stares from people. I guarantee you'll be laughing your a** off reading it. Grumpy Amaury & virginal Emma are sooooo adorable, trying to boss each other around without much success from beginning to the end. The secondary characters are terrific too. I wish Ms. Sands could write faster. Pls go grab this hard-to-find masterpiece from the Auction like I did. This is the best x-mas & new-year gift I've ever got to perk up my sorry life !
