Get Ready to Laugh Your A** Off! Triple A+ Fun!,
This review is from: The Deed (Leisure historical romance) (Mass Market Paperback)
Lynsay Sands is a relatively new author but she is the type of author who will be around for many years to come! A while back I was in the mood for a really funny medieval book... two were recommended to me - Love at First Sight by Sandra Lee and The Deed by Lynsay Sands. Both books are fabulous but I must admit that The Deed has something extra special. The author has a way of involving you in the story that will surprise you and captivate you. She is absolutely wonderful and she is already an "autobuy" for me!The thing that I remember the most about The Deed (I read it quite a while ago) was I felt as though I was running a marathon. My heart was pumping, my mind was racing and I couldn't catch my breath (because I was laughing so hard) - and this was all in the first chapter! The story is about Lady Emmaline Eberhart's desire to have her husband commit the "deed" and yes I am talking about SEX! She even pleads with the King to force him to do his "duty" to her. Unfortunately her husband dies and she is ordered to remarry. If her new husband does not perform the "deed" quickly she will lose her inheritance to her late husband's cousin... this particular scene is priceless and if you choose not to read this book at least read the first two chapters. I promise you that you will be rolling on the floor laughing! Lady Emmaline Eberhart is determined not to remain an innocent and trust me "innocent" is too strong a word for her. She has beauty and grace and at times she semms a bit silly but you can't help to love her (probably because of her talent for making you laugh... how could you dislike someone who makes you smile so much) and the things she does to Amaury are hysterical. I laughed with this book from beginning to end and now that I think about it I can't help but smiling! Amaury de Aneford is gorgeous (did you have a doubt?) who also happens to be a landless knight who is willing to marry solely for the purpose of obtaining a home - the most important thing to him. Little did he realize the wife he was gaining would steal his heart. I will love this book for the laughs it brought me. If you are afraid to laugh in public do not read this book anywhere but behind closed doors! You won't be able to stop yourself... it is that funny!

This review is from: The Deed (Paperback)
This book was the best that I have read in a month. It was so funny and comical, but it really shows the difference in the thought process of a man and a woman. I couldn't stop laughing when Emmalene went before the king to have the king order her husband to have sex with her. I was laughing so hard my husband thought something was wrong with me. Then the part where the people are standing outside the door and yell "Is the Deed Done?" every two minutes was just cracking me up. So the jist of this little review is, if you love a good laugh and a cute story, READ THIS BOOK. But be forwarned that if you get embarresed about showing emotion in public, don't read this is a public place. This book is good for an evening by the fire or while your husband is watching so boring tv show on WW II planes. This book is a true delight to read and a must read for everyone.

CAN'T WAIT TO GET MY HANDS & EYES ON HER UPCOMING NOVEL.....,
This review is from: The Deed (Paperback)
With only less than half a dozen books, Ms. Sands has proved herself to be a writer of enormous talents. She pens memorable, fascinating heroes & heroines, and the silly plot filled with gallons of humor. In her debut, I found the most outrageous & ticklishly funny wedding & bedding scenes I've ever read. Definitely not the kinda book U wanna read in public ( like the airport ), unless you're willing to subject yourself to odd stares from people. I guarantee you'll be laughing your a** off reading it. Grumpy Amaury & virginal Emma are sooooo adorable, trying to boss each other around without much success from beginning to the end. The secondary characters are terrific too. I wish Ms. Sands could write faster. Pls go grab this hard-to-find masterpiece from the Auction like I did. This is the best x-mas & new-year gift I've ever got to perk up my sorry life !

After two full years of marriage, Lady Emmalene has grown tired of waiting. So she petitions the king to command her husband to do his conjugal duties. But Fate seemed to have a different plan for her for the duke died shortly after her meeting with the king, leaving Emmalene still a virgin and heiress to a vast estate - until the unexpected order from the king.
Suspecting Emma's late husband's cousin Bertrand of plotting against him, and therefore not wishing for him to have any power to rise against him, the king orders Amaury, one of his loyal knights, to marry Emma. A landless knight who bears the taint of his illegitimacy, Amaury knows that this is a once in a lifetime opportunity for him to be "Lord" of his own manor, something he has dreamt of since he was a child. So off he goes to his wife-to-be, all the while fearing and dreading to see the "hag" whose late husband apparently refused to bed. But was he surprised to find otherwise! What follows is a hilarious start for the newlyweds. Fearful that Bertrand would arrive before the wedding was consummated and possibly attempt to contest the marriage, everyone was eager for the couple to get the deed done, providing us with one of the funniest scenes in the book. It was outrageous the way everyone kept on banging at the door asking if Amaury and Emma were done. And when Bertrand finally arrives, the frenzy that followed had me laughing out loud. THE DEED is guaranteed to have you laughing right from the first scene. Although it's a bit over the top at times, it didn't bother me at all for each scene is played out well and the humor had me entertained throughout. Emma, though initially ignorant of the intimacy between man and wife, is actually quite an admirable lady. This is a woman who ran an entire estate and army with the same efficiency as a strong knight. And nobody is more in awe than Amaury. As for him, his vulnerability is actually quite endearing for this is a man who's always wanted to belong, a fact that Emma realizes. So it was great to see him find his real home with Emma, and realized in the end that he belonged with her and that her love is more important than the wealth she offered. Entertaining!

Funny Stuff weaved with an otherwise stale plot...,

Lord Fulk, the Duke of Eberhart, married Lady Emmalene two years ago, but had not seen fit to consummate their marriage. Finally Emma requested an audience with the King to discuss this delicate matter. The King issued a command that Lord Fulk do his duty, but he died on his way home to do the deed. Emma is then caught in the middle of a struggle for her husband's title and wealth, prompting the King to promise her hand to a landless knight, Amaury de Aneford. On their wedding night, it doesn't take long for Amaury to discover just how naïve his widowed virgin wife is. Their wedding also doesn't stop his rival from plotting to gain Amaury's new wealth, and bride, by whatever means necessary. Can a woman so naïve of the marriage bed, and a man without the first inclination of how to treat his wife, find love and happiness in their life together? This is the first book I've read by this author, and I have mixed feelings about it. First of all, parts of the story were really funny and I love that particular element in a romance. However, while I found the characters enjoyable for the most part, I did have some difficulty swallowing the extent of Emma and Amaury's deficiencies. There were a couple of instances where I thought, how could Emma be that naïve about men? She didn't know what a penis was? I realize the time period was different. But she had a father, has always been very close to her male cousin, and almost two hundred servants live with her, yet she never overheard any talk of male anatomy? Amaury's close friend Blake obviously knows how to treat women, and yet Amaury never before witnessed this? Obviously if they were knowledgeable of these things, it would've spoiled the humor. I'm just saying the extent of their ignorance seemed quite unlikely. The intrigue plot was okay, but rather unimaginative. I also grew tired of hordes of men attacking Amaury every time he set foot out of the castle walls. In addition, I really didn't get a strong feeling of them belonging together. In other words, I didn't "feel the love". Having said all that, the humor factor was strong enough for me to award my three star rating and try another book by this author. As I understand it, this was her first published novel, and I do see her potential.

If this book doesn't make you laugh so hard that you cry you obviously do not have a sense of humor! When Emma became Amaury's bride in truth I laughed so much that I had to stop reading to wipe the tears from my eyes. I gladly read that book twice and look forward to a third time... funny, funny, funny! It's about time authors realize that although we want to read historical romance that doesn't mean that we don't want to laugh. Well Lynsay Sands knows, The Key is just as wonderful! Excellent!

This has to be one of the funniest books I have read in a long time. Lynsay Sands has managed to create an original plot, endearing hero and heroine, and good secondary characters. This is the story that got me hooked on this author. I won't go into the plot because it has already been explained. I will just say that if you want a good laugh, pick up this book.

The Deed,

I am a little sick of books that find their humour through stupidity. I don't enjoy books where men think that women are from outerspace and women think that men are just big lumps of muscle. How both characters can think the other is an idiot and still fall in love is beyond me. There were a few funny moments where I almost laughed out loud but they were few and far between. I also agree that Emma was a bit too naive.
