Book Description

August 15, 2006
On a trip to India’s Golden City, psychotherapist Kiara Windrider discovered that enlightenment — whether called Christ consciousness or that experienced by Buddha — is not based on a particular teaching, morality, or effort, but is in fact a neurobiological process. Under the guidance of Sri Bhagavan and Sri Amma, he learned that over time, humans developed a membrane that separates their individuality from the collective consciousness. Deeksha — the transfer of enlightened energy from person to person — begins to puncture this membrane, allowing humans to experience oneness and divine grace. In Deeksha, Windrider describes his journey to enlightenment, and explains how readers can experience it as well — and how they can pass the gift on to other seekers. The book also includes seven case studies of others who have experienced deeksha, an interview with Bhagavan, and two essays on the science of deeksha.

5.0 out of 5 stars Understandable skepticism, November 6, 2006
By
This review is from: Deeksha: The Fire from Heaven (Paperback)
If some who hear about this phenomenon are cynical, I think that is perfectly reasonable. Having heard about deeksha I had been skeptical for almost a year, before deciding to investigate (primarily to debunk it). At that time I was a long term seeker of enlightenment, who having sat with several non-dual teachers and read many books, had decided that the seeking was the problem, (or rather, the supposed separate one who did the seeking ie "me"). However when I received deeksha in October 2005, it had an extraordinary effect. In late February 2006 the deeksha energy seemed to cause a remarkable peak state of oneness. A very short time later I was on a plane. I have spent over a month in India where this phenomenon comes from. With me were many people from several different countries and religions, all coming together in oneness. Make no mistake, this phenomenon is now global, and is changing people's lives in an immense way. My experience of the past 12 months tells me that every word written in this book is 100% accurate. I am convinced that this is something unprecendented in human history, and has the potential to significantly and rapidly raise human consciousness and in so doing reverse the the dire situation that exists on the planet today. I would highly recommend going beyond any thorough internet search, and actually receiving some deeksha. And for those who are really serious about their own Awakening, and that of the whole of humanity, go to India and find out for yourself. Peace.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Introduction to Deeksha, September 21, 2006
This review is from: Deeksha: The Fire from Heaven (Paperback)
I don't agree with the past reviewer. There are various paths to enlightenment offered by so many authors and spiritual guides, and those paths don't necessarily for work for everyone. I have been to Deeksha gatherings (unlike the other reviewer) and for those that embrace it's practice, have found a sense of awakening. Deeksha is not for everyone, but for those curious about it (considering its widespread practice worldwide), this book is a good introduction to it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Valuable deconstruction of enlightenment myths..., October 2, 2006
This review is from: Deeksha: The Fire from Heaven (Paperback)
This book is another great reminder that we already have everything we need and there is nothing to seek. Far from being a recruitment clarion for a cult in India as one amazon reviewer would have us believe, the book de-mystifies and re-defines the notion of enlightenment from a very pragmatic, personal and useful point of view. I love the fact that all the wisdom from ancient cultures and sages and all the modern self-help books du jour point to the same simple way out of suffering: dis-identification with the mind. Jesus, Eckhart Tolle, Byron Katie, Buddha, and even my dear friend Molli have all in their own words pointed to this significantly powerful truth. We are not our thoughts. The hard part for us in the western world is remembering this after we've put all the books down. Deeksha according to the author (I haven't experienced it directly) may be a way to gradually re-program the brain so that we don't so easily slip back into our forgetful mode. Who knows? I'd be willing to try it. I think that any modality, teaching, energy or bodywork that attempts to help us to spend more time in our higher selves is a valuable and necessary contribution to the world at this time.
