3.0 out of 5 stars What happened to the tilt controls? March 15, 2012
Verified Purchase
I loved the first Trial X, then played the winter version of 2 when it was the free app of the day. I must say it was like night and day all the differences! So here we are with the normal version of two. It's just what I was expecting from the Winter Edition, but for some reason the tilt controls do not work. At least I'm not the only one experiencing this mishap. Long story short, the game would be awesome if the tilt controls worked. The button controls are too awkward for me.

4.0 out of 5 stars Fun and addictive March 15, 2012
This game is a 3D side-view dirt bike stunt course with nice graphics and a large variety of levels. The on-screen controls are somewhat complex but they give you detailed gas, brake, lean forward, lean back, and jump control of your bike which you will need to negotiate challenging obstacles like ramps, giant tires, pipes, rocks, and more. The bike handles realistically and you can see the front and rear suspension load and unload independently. You can do wheelies and flips, hitting your head or taking a big hit sends you back to the beginning or last checkpoint. Sometimes the physics are unrealistic like going up a 80 degree incline while doing a leaning back wheelie but that's what you've got to do to make it through. The rear wheel on the bike provides the forward momentum and the game accurately models that.

The levels are varied in appearance, content and difficulty. The problem is some of the very difficult levels have no checkpoints so after you get through all sorts of crazy obstacles and screw up near the end you'll have to start over. And again and again. Repetition does teach you the controls and techniques but I dislike repeating the whole level over and over on some of the courses. More checkpoints would be appreciated.

Overall this is a fun challenging polished action game that I've had lots of fun with.

4.0 out of 5 stars Tricky at first March 9, 2012

I chose using the kindle versus using the buttons as my controller and found that to be more fun if not a bit tricky at first. But, after a couple of times it became much easier and much more fun.Very addictive.I would definitely recommend this game.

I bought it a week before it was free, but its ok. The game looks great and plays best with the button controls. Only reason i havent given it 5 stars is the lack if levels, trial x had way more levels, this one only has 36. If added in an update i will change my rating to a 5 for sure

2.0 out of 5 stars Not nearly as good as the original!!! February 16, 2013

I don't know what happened, but the physics are horrible in the trial x2 and trial x2 winter editions. The First trial Xtreme has the most realistic physics, why screw it up? Then Trial X 3 came out. In my opinion, that's the worst one yet. They keep getting worse instead of better. I don't know what's wrong with this developer, but why not use the same physics engine as the first game, instead of making the bike act so goofy? I still play Trial Xtreme 1 primarily because I just get so frustrated with the stupid physics of the other versions, like not being able to keep the front tire on the ground while accellerating, or trying to climb a hill without flipping. It's fine to try to get through the real obstacles in the game, but when you have a problem just getting the bike to the obstacles, that's where I draw the line. also, there are times when the bike does even have enough power to climb the hill (or obstacle) from a dead start. All of these things where never an issue in the first version. The graphics are even better in the first version than they are in the rest of them. Games are supposed to get better from version to version. Not this time. Basically, the way I see it, Version one is a flat out pleasure to play. The rest of them are just nothing more than paying money for loads of serious aggravation!

I loved all the games in the trial x series. Great graphics. Only problem is the buttons are too small. I miss the button layout of the first trial x game.

4.0 out of 5 stars plays great March 15, 2012

This is very similar to a lot of flash games where you ride a dirt bike/monster truck/4 wheeler/etc.. over obstacles while trying not to crash. It looks way better than any of those though. I set it with the button controls and it plays perfectly on my kindle fire.

The game includes OPENFEINT, but thankfully it's off by default.
