5.0 out of 5 stars fun little game October 23, 2012

It's good to see a FAOTD without a bunch of fake reviews. This is a cute little game. The concept is a bit like plants vs zombies. Waves of zombies come thru and you have to throw them against the wall.

Are you ready for the zombie apocalypse? Here's a great chance to practice destroying zombies. OK, maybe not, but you might like it if you want to smash skeletons against a wall over and over or destroy them with weapons. Honestly, it's not really for me. It's not a bad game, but it gets old pretty quick. I was glad there were extra items that could be bought from the store with coins earned in game to help break up the redundancy of the game. The graphics are mediocre, but unchanging. There's no scenery change as the game progresses, just the same old backdrop and graveyard.

My biggest annoyance with the game is a lack of description on how to play and use the bonuses, I just figured it out with time. The extremely brief tutorial wasn't all that helpful. I ended up using my bonus items when I wouldn't have just because I didn't really understand what they were there for and that they wouldn't automatically renew after each game. In the "shop" there are bonus items to buy with coins, but there isn't a description of the items. When selected I don't see how they can be unselected either, which is annoying if you click the wrong one and don't want to waste your coins on it.

There's "Achievement Modes" which are kind of fun. You progressively unlock them as you beat previous levels. These are cool because you get to use a weapon for the whole game, like a machine gun, sword, or shock weapon. There's a way to create multiple players for people who are using the same device. I was a little extra generous with my rating because there are no invasive permissions. There are no constant reminders to rate the game or post to Facebook. There's not even a way to buy extra coins with real money, which I guess some might see as a good or bad thing. I like that it's just simply a game.

4.0 out of 5 stars Interesting game, but lacking instructions October 23, 2012

The tutorial in this game is very short: fling zombies at walls and get power-ups to do stuff. You either have to figure out what they do on your own, or wait until you can unlock achievement mode to train yourself on how to use them properly. Gameplay is fairly simple, fend off the zombies through whatever means you have available to protect your village. If a zombie gets through, the lights goes out on one house. If the lights go out on all the houses, then you lose.

The power-ups available are:
Tap-to-kill: Touch a zombie and they're dead.
Electricity: Wait for it to charge up to kill up to 10 zombies at one time. The lightning will chain zombies, but if you use it too quickly, you will only get a couple.
Missile: You choose a target, and then a missile is shot down at that spawn. Take note that there is a delay in launching, so try to lead the zombies, if you can.
Mine: Basic land mine. If zombies get close, they blow up. Can also be moved after placement. Works well as a grenade by placing it where a large group of zombies are. I like to stock up on these for emergencies. Actually, they work better as grenades. If you place them on the ground and wait for a zombie, you'll only kill one or two. If you place them on a group of zombies, you can easily kill ten.
Machinegun: Tap to shoot, kill a bunch of zombies before ammo runs out. Aim for the torso.
Sword: Drops a sword item. Click and drag the sword to try to decapitate as many zombies as you can (aim for the neck).
Morningstar: Similar to the sword, except that you hold it by the handle and the spike ball is free to swing around. Works well for zombies in a line, but if you have to start turning, the spiked end moves all over the place, missing the zombies. Aim for the torso, if you can help it.

This game is just boring. It is very 1-dimensional. I got a little perverse enjoyment from the first two or three zombies I smashed but then it got boring.

3.0 out of 5 stars Fun, but Terrible Graphics January 7, 2013

The game theory is fun (Throw zombies around to kill them? Sounds like fun to me!), but the graphics are pretty terrible. If you don't care about graphics, give it a try; otherwise, try Plants vs Zombies instead.

4.0 out of 5 stars Out of the ashes and onto your Fire... October 23, 2012

Oh yeah, sweet zombie killing! Repetative, like many reviewers said. Not progressively harder, it goes from mind numbing slow in level 1 to all out freak panic by 7. No explanation for mummy boss either (BTW fling the rocks at him) Fun for a while. Kids will like it I think.

4.0 out of 5 stars It's like smashing ants!!! October 23, 2012

The zombies, which are more like skeletons look like ants on my kindle. The only reasons why I downloaded this game were that it isn't a memory hogger, no excessive permissions and it would be right for halloween. It was like I expected no thrills, no state of the art grafics. Just a time killer not really worth what they are asking for, but good enough for being a FAOTD

1.0 out of 5 stars Not for me
Tried to play this on my tablet and the controls were too close to the function buttons on the tablet and it was hard to play due to inadvertently backing out of the game.

I downloaded this application when it was free. Fun for a while, but like most games on phones, it got old quick.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not as cool as it should be.
With a name like Zombie Smasher this app should be way better than it is. I was entertained for about two minutes.

1.0 out of 5 stars Played it for less than five minutes and deleted it
You fling zombies at walls. I don't see anything more than this game being a time killer. I found other time-killer games that I enjoyed more so have already removed it.

Its just the same thing over and over again. The power ups are also so expensive. It really not worth it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love this game!
This game is so much fun! The zombies even look different when you play it in the daytime. Really a kick. It's challenging--you really need to work fast. This game is addictive!

3.0 out of 5 stars M'eh
It's not a bad game, zombies march across the field, you touch them and swipe to through them to the side, ideally with enough force to take them out. Gets old fairly fast.

1.0 out of 5 stars Boring, repetitive, just swiping
All this game is, is randomly swiping your finger around and "throwing" zombies in the air hard enough that they hopefully die. There is no slashing. Read more
