This review is from: Deep Blue Eyes: And Other Lies (Paperback)
I discovered Janette Rallison this summer and loved her books for young adults. I'm a high school teacher and I enjoy reading books that my students might like to read.
I couldnt find this in the library as it is one of her older books. This seems to be almost a different genre than her other books. I would call this Teen Morman Lit. To me the books is written for those familiar with the Morman faith and the rules that go along with it. I am not sure if a non-Morman teen would enjoy this book. They would definately get the idea that Morman's are very strict with their teens. As a parent I will say that is no necessarily a bad thing but I have the feeling this is what many non-Morman teens would think. I enjoyed the book however although I would not use it in the classroom. I thought it was educational for me but I enjoy learning about other faiths, even the ones I do not agree with. I highly recommend this author. She is a great writer and her website is humorous and fun as well. |
