FANTABULOUS! THIS GUY GETS FUNKY & GROOVY,
By A Customer
This review is from: Deep Blue (Audio CD)
Great CD, sort of sounds like Ben Harper, but more acoustic. Peter has a distinctive voice, you'll love it or hate it. The CD has a lot to like: good grooves, energy, deep lyrics, it rocks, moves my body & mind. Pete's web site is kewl too, goto Easternfront.com

Intellegent Folk/Rock with a Twist,

This was my intro to Peter Mulvey and, in my opinion, his best effort (though I like parts of all his CDs). This disc is more "electric" than most of his others, which to me gives it a lot more (dare I say it) diversity than most folk fare. I really like the "harder" cuts like "Smoke" and "Deep Blue" mixed in with the softer songs on the disc. I keep hoping he'll put more of this kind of music on future releases, but so far I've been mostly disappointed (though the later CDs have strong songwriting too). Hey Peter, quit obsessing about who "the audience" is and shake it up again.

*Excellent* album,

This is one of the most impressive singer-songwriter albums to come out of this decade. Peter Mulvey's talent for lyrics matches his intricate, often haunting guitar sound. Although not as immediately engaging as his first release, "Rapture", "Deep Blue" has a more mature sound, both lyrically and musically. He's awesome in concert as well!

Fabulous,

I've loved Peter's work since his first solo record came out in the early 90s. "Deep Blue" shows a songwriter's growth. The man can play a mean guitar, write a poetic lyric, and sing in a low, sexy tone that makes you want to listen over and over.

He's done it again, but even better this time!,

This review is from: Deep Blue (Audio CD)
From his very first album, Peter Mulvey has been able to convey every feeling in his body to his audience with varying degrees of subtlety. Deep Blue is the best of the best, combining emotional honesty and maturity of both songwriting and performance. Included are some older tunes revamped to reflect the changes time has wrought in the artist. While darker than his other works, this record is nonetheless thought provoking, hard rocking, and alltogether great music.

Mulvey has great tunings and even better lyrics. His albums, beginning with brother rabbit speaks, get better and better.

If you can get past the song "No Sense of Humor" on Peter's Deep Blue album, I envy you. The great guitar and funky beat makes this album a "Must Have". Peter Mulvey is quickly becoming one of my favorite artists. My advice.. if you are thinking of buying this album... don't think any more.. just do it.. I am sure you will love it. |
