Book Description

March 28, 2006
When a guy stops at a roadside diner, he expects bad chilli, not a hostage situation. But that's where SG-5 operative Harry van Zandt finds himself when an armed cartel blows through the door. They're not after him but the woman in the next booth, and their message is clear: she's got seventy-two hours to locate and deliver a valuable historical document or her brother dies. And if Harry wants to live, he'd better go with her. Harry has his own undercover mission to finish, but with a trigger-happy band on their tails, it'll have to wait. Not that he minds helping Georgia McLain. The tough treasure hunter is as smart as she is sexy. She's also desperate. That artefact could finally clear her late father's name. She needs Harry if she's going to double-cross these thugs and keep it for herself, and her gratitude is the kind that could turn a guy's head. Too bad that document is also of vital importance to the Smithson Group, and Harry's top-secret mission is to get it before it falls into the wrong hands. Now, the beautiful, infuriating woman he's starting to fall for could lead him right to what he needs - and what she so desperately wants. Out on the open road with a price on their heads, two unlikely lovers are caught in a game of secrets, lies, betrayals, and desire, where trust is risky and love is no time to catch your breath...

More About the Author

Alison Kent was a born reader, but it wasn't until she reached thirty that she knew she wanted to be a writer when she grew up. Five years later, she made her first sale.

In 1995, she accepted an offer issued by the senior editor of Harlequin Temptation live on the "Isn't It Romantic?" episode of CBS 48 Hours. That book, Call Me, was a Romantic Times finalist for Best First Series Book in 1996.

With her first three Temptations on the shelf, she took a break from writing romance novels and spent a few months living one, finding her own hero and practicing every technique she'd learned from a lifetime of reading the best "how-to" manuals around! And the rest, as they say, is history.

Having over thirty titles contracted or in print, she now writes for both the Harlequin Blaze and Kensington Brava lines. She is also a partner in Access Romance, an online author community (http://www.accessromance.com) and DreamForge Media (http://www.dreamforgemedia.com) as a Website designer.

Alison lives in a Houston, Texas, suburb with her hero, any number of their four vagabond kids, and a dog named Smith. Readers can contact her through her web site at http://www.alisonkent.com.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another Kent Winner, April 6, 2006
By
Judy "book reader" (Cincinnati, ohio United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Deep Breath (Paperback)
Deep Breath is another sensational tale from the SG-5 team by Alison Kent.

Georgia McLain is on a quest to clear her father of treason charges after he died in prison. She knows if she finds General Arthur Duggin's Totalsky dossier that it will clear her fathers name and she can start to live her life. Her first attempt to retrieve the file lands her in jail and on her way to her second attempt she becomes involved in a hostage situation at a local dinner. This new threat sends her to retrieve it for another party but the hostage taker sends a man from the dinner along to help her as he holds her brother captive.

Harry Van Zandt had been following Georgia to retrieve the dossier for his boss at the Smithson Group. He keeps this tidbit of information to himself as he is dragged into helping Georgia retrieve the document. As he gets to know Georgia his feelings of that this is just another assignment begin to change. This woman is strong, quick witted and hot. She has invaded his soul.

Georgia is used to depending on herself so letting Harry in really takes some work on her part. But Harry is different then any other man she has ever known. He makes her want more than just a quick affair. Harry just makes her want.

Deep Breath is a complex and vastly layered story. The characters though they have only know each other a short time, circumstances force the relationship on the fast track. The dialogue is fast-paced, the chemistry between Harry and Georgia is steamy. It was a wonderful read, couldn't put it down once I started it. Kudos.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful suspense from Alison Kent, March 13, 2006

This review is from: Deep Breath (Paperback)
After Georgia McLain's father dies in prison, she practically dedicates her life to proving his innocence; she is determined to get her hands on the dossier of Gen. Arthur Duggin, certain that it will contain evidence necessary to clear her father's name. Her search for crucial information has taken her many places, most recently a jail cell. After her brother, Finn, bails her out of her most recent bind, they stop at a diner where their day goes from bad to worst when they find themselves in a middle of a deliberate hostage situation. The hostage taker, one Charlie Casto, is demanding that Georgia attend an auction of Gen Duggin's mementos and steal the dossier. Georgia must return to the diner with the dossier within three days in order for her brother and the other hostages to stay alive. The Smithson Group's Harry van Zandt happens to be in the diner and is ordered to go with Georgia to retrieve the dossier. What Casto and Georgia do not know is that Harry is after the elusive dossier as well.

Georgia is an independent woman who is not pleased at having Harry forced upon her, even if he is the most gorgeous man she has ever laid eyes on. Harry, on the other hand, is quietly accepting of his role in attending the auction with Georgia, seeming almost eager to help her out. He soon realizes that Georgia is a very intelligent woman, with a biting wit and his interest in her quickly goes beyond the retrieval of the General's file. Georgia is thankful for Harry's help and over the course of their three days together, finds herself falling hard for this man who is unlike any other man she knows. The chemistry between Georgia and Harry is intensely passionate from the start, and their simply being together is enough to spark fiery emotion. Their intricate plan to get the General's file as well as the players involved are excellently and cleverly written.

Alison Kent is quickly becoming the master at writing action-filled romance, or is that romance-filled action? Either way, she knows how to wrap suspense, action, and scorching romance into a tidy package, complete with characters that are always intelligent, loyal, and wonderfully capable of making you wish for more when you turn that last page.

5.0 out of 5 stars HOT!!!, June 10, 2006
This review is from: Deep Breath (Paperback)
Georgia McLain is a treasure hunter. she lives a vagabond life traveling and looking for antiquities that her clients desire. But, now she is looking for her own treasure. One she hopes will clear her dead fathers name. The scandal that sent her father to jail has haunted Georgia and his deathbed wish that she find the dossier that will keep the story in the headlines and this quest consumes her. But she is not the only one hunting for this artifact and when fate delivers her into the hands of handsome Harry Van Zandt she has to wonder if she will be able to keep her head while trying to keep her heart safe.

Harry Van Zandt is an SG-5 operative who needs to find the dossier on the TotalSky scandal. He knows his best bet at finding the document is by pairing up with Georgia McLain. Georgia is a strong woman and she speaks to a heart he has worked hard to keep in check. Together they race against time to find the document that Georgia needs to save her brother and hopefully clear her fathers name. But what happens when the chemistry between them explodes? They are walking a dangerous line and no one is more aware of that than Harry.

This is another sexy SG-5 read by Ms. Kent. Harry is a total Alpha hero and the reader will fall a little in love with this guy. Georgia is a unique character and a perfect match for Harry. This is a fast-paced read that includes plenty of action, sexual tension, and interesting secondary characters. A few more answers are given as to who and what Spectra IT is...and the readers appetite is wetted with a very good cliff hanger. I can't wait for the next installment to this entertaining series. If you are new to this series...fear not this is a strong stand alone read...but be forewarned you will be eager to pick up the previous titles!
