5.0 out of 5 stars The Next Step to Greater Awareness
I read this book with very little knowledge of the Enneagram. What I learned was absolutely amazing!
Once I determined what personality type I was, I used the information about the beliefs inherent in that type to eliminate the beliefs that were holding me back. My life isn't the same! I'm not hostage to my ego/personality anymore!

5.0 out of 5 stars The Next Step to Greater Awareness, June 27, 2008
This review is from: Deep Coaching: Using the enneagram as a catalyst for profound change (Paperback)
This book is a stepping stone to getting the ego out of the driver's seat and to gaining greater awareness. I had to read it like I read Eckhart Tolle; read a little, put it down to absorb it, read a little more. Tolle has told us what we need to do: become conscious and eliminate the ego's hold on us. This book tells you how to do that.
It is written especially for service professionals to enable them to:
1. Gain insight into their own personalities
2. Gain insight into the personalities of their clients and help their clients to greater consciousness
3. To see how their personal personality type reacts with that of their clients': the pitfalls to avoid and the strengths that can be used.
Even though I am not a coach or other service professional, this book is written in a way to benefit everyone, and it really helped me. I use the knowledge of the Enneagram personality types when I am dealing with other people and it is extremely helpful in understanding them.
I can't recommend this book enough. If you are searching for the next step in how to gain greater awareness, this is it!

5.0 out of 5 stars The Perfect Tool, February 11, 2008
This review is from: Deep Coaching: Using the enneagram as a catalyst for profound change (Paperback)
This has been a much-awaited book: not only have I found what I was looking for furthermore it surpassed my expectations. This is a well-conceived and structured book. The accessible information about how to integrate the Enneagram to the Coaching practice makes this book a potentially motivator for those who aspire to deepen their coaching practice incorporating the wisdom of the Enneagram. For those who are familiar with how the personality system works, it will only but elevate and heighten their work.
Dr. Roxanne has succeeded in reaching what was most needed in the Coaching arena: a precise and concise yet crucial and important piece of information. This book is a generous book: it provides a Guide for using the author's Coaching Model, which is of an invaluable worth. As a coach I can see already the amazing results it provides in my clients as it supports what coaching is all about: transformed and fulfilled clients in all aspects of their lives.

5.0 out of 5 stars An amazing book and resource for the Enneagram and Coaching, September 15, 2009
This review is from: Deep Coaching: Using the enneagram as a catalyst for profound change (Paperback)
Roxanne's book in an amazing resource for the Enneagram and Coaching. The questions are insightful, the information on the types is brilliant and I refer to it over and over in my coaching work. It was an easy read and full of incredibly relevant material. I would highly recommend purchasing this book and keeping it on your bookshelf to come back to time and time again. A must have for any coach doing meaningful work in the world.

3.0 out of 5 stars Deep Coaching- Using the Enneagram, October 4, 2010

This review is from: Deep Coaching: Using the enneagram as a catalyst for profound change (Paperback)
Well, I express posted the book at around $85 to Australia... so, I wanted it...soon...

Roxanne seems to have a real depth around 'what coaching is' and the book is delivered in a manner that causes Enneagram learning, simply by finding your way through the book.
The Crib sheet layout of each type is a lovely type snapshot, very useful for clients to see without going into overload.

The book is offered to new and experienced coaches alike, I would have to say, that outside of its simplicity of use, it really lacks enneagram depth and coaching application for a coach with several years fulltime coaching. If you are new to coaching and or the Enneagram, this is a good place to start, if you are more experienced, I would not recommend this book over some of the others available; The Wisdom Of The Enneagram' for example.

I hope this helps you in choosing what is best for you :)

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing models for positive growth and change, July 18, 2010

I just finished this book and am excited to begin to use Roxanne Howe-Murphy's insights immediately! I only recently started working more closely with the Enneagram, and I am convinced this is the tool that will bring about meaningful change in our world. The models she shares in her book make this amazing body of knowledge very accessible and practical. Although the book is directed to coaches and other human development professionals, anyone can immediately take away and begin to use the information. I am very excited for her next book, which I understand will be out later this year.

5.0 out of 5 stars Deep Coaching for coaches and individuals, June 28, 2009
This review is from: Deep Coaching: Using the enneagram as a catalyst for profound change (Paperback)
Prior to having purchased "Deep Coaching" I had studied the Enneagram for 10 years and had been using the Enneagram as a coaching tool for two years. This book really brought the two worlds of "Enneagram" and "Coaching" together for me. Not only does it assist in my personal growth as a person, it is an incredible tool for coaches because of the insight it offers - helping coaches "see" the world through the eyes of the client. It prompted me to enroll and complete a Deep Coaching course with the author, Roxanne Howe Murphy. This book and that course together have elevated my coaching to a much deeper and more effective level than I could have imagined in such a short period of time.

4.0 out of 5 stars Deep Coaching not just for coaches, March 11, 2009
This review is from: Deep Coaching: Using the enneagram as a catalyst for profound change (Paperback)
Having some familiarity with the enneagram system from various secular spiritual traditions (Arica, Diamond Heart), I am always interested in what people write about this tool for self-knowing. While not a deep exploration, this book is a solid and well-written introduction for those who are in the life coach career path and for the rest of us who are just on the path. When I read some of her descriptions of the different approaches to life that we get stuck in believing, I even see a lovely, clear poetry. Well-written...well-thought out. Worth owning and sharing.

5.0 out of 5 stars amazingly accessible, June 30, 2011
This review is from: Deep Coaching: Using the enneagram as a catalyst for profound change (Paperback)
I do want to say I was most surprised by the accessibility of the "Deep coaching" book, as I have several books on the enneagram in my collection, each of them bought because I felt there was some big secret in that material, but then somehow, I couldn't quite grasp things yet. The "Deep coaching" book has changed all that: each paragraph I have read sofar has brought me closer to myself, and opened my heart to wonder and awe a bit further.

It's informative to learn what a coach/therapist would see one's thinking to be like. This book helps one see ways one thinks in a box and how to break out of it. It gets a 4 star only because I found it expensive given that it is not an enormously detailed book although there is some detail. Most coaching, therapy books for professionals are, however, higher priced.

5.0 out of 5 stars Thanks from someone working with a team of life coaches..., March 8, 2010

This review is from: Deep Coaching: Using the enneagram as a catalyst for profound change (Paperback)
I work in management at a higher education consulting company with a team of life coaches. I have studied the Enneagram extensively and was thrilled to find Deep Coaching as a resource I could use to bridge coaching and the Enneagram. I reference Deep Coaching many times throughout the week and it has informed the development work I do with each of my coaches. Roxanne does an amazing job illuminating each type and giving the reader very grounded and tangible ways to use the Enneagram via coaching to further development and growth.

Thank you Roxanne for your wisdom, insight and expertise!
