Brenna is a high school English teacher who recently moved to the small town of Whitewater. Just when she is starting to enjoy the town and making connections with the townspeople, including two men vying for her attention, a mysterious person is obsessed with her and starts to stalk her. Who is stalking Brenna and why? What kind of trouble lurks in the small town of Whitewater?

Deep Connections is a chilling romantic suspense thriller with a paranormal twist that will keep you sitting on the edge of your seat. Written in the third person narrative, this fast paced and riveting story has enough suspense, drama, mystery, dark secrets and romance to keep you guessing. Rich in detail and vividly graphic descriptions, this story is creepy good, it gave me the willies. As the story unfolded, I seriously found myself getting goosebumps, note to self: do not read this novel in the middle of the night! The author weaves a gripping tale that has so many twists and turns, I found myself so caught up in the suspense that I couldn't put the book down. I loved how the author mixes the dark mystery with a romantic love triangle, both of Brenna's love interests are determined to protect her, and I was thoroughly intrigued by the differences in their desire for Brenna.

The author creates an intriguing cast of characters who are realistic and complex people. The character development is fantastic, the author provides the reader with some really good detailed descriptions of the characters, and along with their interactions and dialogues, it feels like you get to know each one of them. I loved the love triangle between Brenna, Native American attorney Slaton Lightfoot, and policeman Eaton Somerfield.

I really enjoyed this book. I got caught up in the story and loved Ms. Graf's character development. There is action, suspense, romance, and a few surprises that keep you reading. I couldn't put it down. There is some language and an attempted rape, so it is not appropriate for younger readers, but I really liked it. You may read my full review on my book blog:[...]

Did I enjoy this book: I did enjoy this book. I read it every free chance I had. I couldn't wait to see how the story ended.

It was suspenseful, action-packed, and had me on the edge of my seat. The prologue hooked me and freaked me out just a bit. I had to see how this story played out. There were times when I was looking over my shoulder and watching for disturbances; that's how real it felt to me.

Brenna thinks it is all a prank by some of her students until she wakes up knowing someone was in her bedroom watching her. I don't know how it was that Brenna remained so strong and relatively level-headed throughout her whole ordeal. I would not have been able to do that. She was bound and determined to make it through and do what she had to do to make this demon leave her alone.

Eaton and Slaton are the love interests in some sense in this story. I thought Eaton was caring and genuinely concerned for Brenna's safety. Slaton clearly loves Brenna but doesn't always show that love in the best way. At times, I really did not like Slaton. I thought he was pushy and domineering. But at other times, I thought he was a good guy. The feud between the two was borderline adolescent. I just wanted them to grow up and act like men, not teen-aged boys, and remember that Brenna's safety should be the foremost thought in their respective minds.

The supernatural portion of this story did remind me of another story with beings of a similar nature. (I know that sounds cryptic...but I do not want to give away anything in this story.) The similarity wasn't such that I wanted to stop reading and it didn't detract from the overall storyline. But that similarity did pop into my head on a regular basis while I was reading this book.

The ending was a bit of a cliffhanger.

I am an avid romantic suspense/action reader and steer clear of supernatural themes. And the Amazon description nowhere indicates this as the latter. So when it was eluded to that all is not as I assumed, I was so deeply hooked into the storyline and invested in these characters, the devil could have appeared (he does not...I'm just saying...) and I would have read to the end!

At $.99 (kindle) I was willing to try a book with such a vague description, and when I was done, I wondered why this book was only $.99! I have paid much more to read characters not nearly as well developed as Brenna and Slaton. Unlike many books where the storyline crescendos to a big climax at the end, this one had many peaks and and valleys (to catch your breath) before the "final" showdown.

As an avid reader and with the many smaller or self-published choices, I do worry that content may be of a lesser quality technically or in structure, and at times that can distract me. However, while I did find very few sentence structure/typographical errors, I could care less as I was so engrossed in the storyline.

This was one of those books that I read in 2 days when I could steal time away from life. And when I wasn't reading it, I was thinking about when I'd be able to get back to reading it.

Not to say that this is an incredible book everyone should read, but I was just to taken aback that I was reading (and enjoying) something outside of my genre box (but not in such a way I am going in search of supernatural books now).

The biggest disappointment, however, comes at the VERY end: When I discovered the story will continue in "Dark Connections" and that I have to wait for it to be released Winter 2013-2013! I want it NOW!
