If "The Thing" had a sequel...this would be it...,
By
This review is from: Deep Evil (DVD)
This movie has a great plot, and pretty good acting. The movie has an extremely EXTREMELY similar plot to the first Resident Evil movie, but has somewhat of a "The Thing" blend to it.
Deep Evil is about a select handful of military ops going on a mission into an underground bio lab to retrieve any surviving members of a lockdown, within the lab. When they reach the lab though..things get dangerous. They find the entire lab covered in water and slime, which has no explination as to how it got there. They then come to find that a "secret experiment" which we later find is named "PB3" is missing from the lab. Soonafter, the movie gets interesting when the team meets an infected civilian woman, who contracted a virus from the alien or possibly the slime/water in the lab's surroundings, the team then takes her out, after she tries to up the radiation of the lab and kill herself and everyone in the lab. From then on, the movie only gets better and better, as members of the op. begin to become infected by this virus, and soonafter die. Then finally the ending...i'm not about to spoil anything, but expect the unexpected. It's not the most "good triumphs over evil" ending, in the world. But it's a good one, for sure. In the end, "Deep Evil" actually satisfied my thirst for suspense as a horror movie. And the fact that it tied in with a few other movies (Resident Evil 1, Mimic, The Thing) only made it that much more interesting. It wasn't the most original movie in the world, but it was def. worth the 1.5 hours of view to see it.

NOTHING NEW BUT NOT SO BAD,

DEEP EVIL offers little novelty in the genetic experiment gone horribly awry genre, but it's decently made and generates a few chills. The movie opens with a doctor escaping from a mysterious lab and accused of being a terrorist. We find out that this secret lab has enforced a lockdown, snaring 14 of its staff for some unknown reasons. We find out too that the lab had cloned an alien organism which if set loose would destroy mankind as we know it. Enter the beautiful doctor, the gallant special ops force and a creepy monster that makes drops of water seem terrifying. Lorenzo Lamas, Ona Greuner, Thomas Scott, Will Sanderson and Adam Morrison do okay in the lead roles and the effects (most of the time) are above average. It has a twist ending that smells of sequelitis? Not bad for a b flick.

The scary title of this movie makes a lot of promises, but sadly when the evil itself is revealed, you will be filled with disappointment. The special effects that are being used already look medieval these days and the aliens are hardly scary.
This movie is a sad attempt to combine some of the great stuff from other movies.(SARR)

This movie is something you may have found 10 years ago late at night on the old USA channel, or maybe even the sci-fi channel. It reminded me of the old cheesy roger corman movies. Your left with an ok (over done) plot, you have some ok actors, mixed in with some bad actors. You have some nice computer generated FX, mixed with some cheesy Halloween alien costumes. As a matter of fact I thought the aliens in the movie looked like a complete rip off of the aliens in the movie "Enemy Mine" made back in 1985. This movie was very so/so. I would pass on it. You might be able to see it for free on tv because it has a made for tv feel to it

I was'nt going to write a review but the only review here was written by a member of the Lorenzo Lamas fan club. He is'nt even the star of this film (Wow, Lorenzo's career is tanking fast)
The production values are bad. The acting is mediocre. BUT..the plot is OK. Deep Evil is not a terrible film, but it is not that good either. Don't pay too much for it.

Invasion of the snot-aliens,
By
This review is from: Deep Evil (DVD)
Dr. Peter Lang is on the run. He's captured and interrogated, giving up a wild story under torture. Dr. Lang, along with military scientist Dr. Susan Cole, were sent on a Black Mission to Fairbanks Alaska where a classified underground bio facility is maintained. They've lost contact with the facility, and are unsure if the facility has been breached by terrorists seeking their military secrets.
Entering the 4-level facility in special biohazard suits, Lang and Cole and their black ops team search for survivors in dark, long corridors covered in water. The water is often slimy and crawly. Dr. Cole and Major Ross set up the lab, but while exploring Ross finds a survivor attempting to kill everyone by upping the radiation. She's got black eyes and bubbly skin, and while Ross tries to restrain her Cole comes in and coldly shoots her dead. Meanwhile, down a level, a man shows up wielding a gun. When the squad shoots the man down, he turns into a puddle of slime. Captain O'Brian gets the slime on her and starts melting, and when her eyes turn black she too is shot. Cole is finally forced to tell the rest of the gang her secrets, that the secret object of the lab, called "PB3", is missing. They're not here to find terrorists, they're here to find the PB3, a liquid alien with considerable intelligence. PB3 produces the water and slime that infects humans, and it must be destroyed if it cannot be contained. Now the team must make it out of the secure facility alive, while attempting to contain the PB3 by nuclear explosion. With the only exit destroyed (who would shoot at spiders with a machine gun anyway?) Who will survive? And can you guess the surprise ending? 'Deep Evil' is an okay film. I like underground movies, I like microbes and aliens (especially snot aliens), and I liked 'Creature From The Black Lagoon', whom some of the creatures seem to be stolen from. The acting is adequate but not spectacular, the atmosphere is good (long dark slimy hallways), and the snot extensive. If you like 'B' horror this is definitely worth a rental. Keep the Kleenex handy. Enjoy!

water based spiders and rubber suited aliens attack, in Deep Evil...,
This review is from: Deep Evil (DVD)
An elite team is sent into a top secret facility to investigate a possible outbreak, in Deep Evil (2004), a somewhat derivative B-move science fiction thriller, that despite some limitations, is still quite entertaining. While the basic premise is nothing new, the story does feature an unusual threat, and includes some atypical twists. Communications have been lost with the Becktell bio research laboratory, a top secret facility located deep underground in a converted copper mine near Fairbanks, Alaska. Researcher Peter Langdon (Jim Thorburn) and Dr. Cole (Ona Gauer) are sent in to investigate, accompanied by a military team commanded by Major Michael Ross (Adam Harrington). The group which also includes Trainor (Lorenzo Lamas), Sergeant Hall (Will Sanderson), and Captain Obrien (Rachel Hayward), enters the lab soon discovers that something has happened to some of the staff. It turns out that the Soviets had originally extracted some kind of alien life from a meteorite. When this alien fell into American hands, it eventually wound up at the Becktell lab for further research. The team finds that the alien has escaped, and apparently has a liquid form similar to water. With no way to combat it, the destruction of the entire facility is ordered. On their way out, the group is attacked by the aliens, who strangely transform from drops of water into spider like creatures. The CG effects for the spiders are passable, however not advanced enough to show that bullets have any effect on them. In another odd turn, aliens that kind of resemble the creature from the Black Lagoon also appear and attack. Dr. Cole has some weapons specially designed to tackle the creatures, but again the special effects are not quite at the level to feature these weapons adequately, and things like smoke and mist are used to create atmosphere and obscure what can be seen. Even without adequate special effects muscle, the film still succeeds in establishing some sense of purpose and urgency as the team runs for their lives, though it may be hard to take lizardlike men in rubber suits seriously. Finishing with a couple of surprises, the film delivers a little sting that helps to keep it from being a totally derivative cliché. The acting is not too bad for this kind of movie, although Will Sanderson's channeling of Bill Paxton in Aliens is quite overdone. Although limited in some aspects, Deep Evil still manages to be a passably entertaining alien encounter adventure.

Ok, i'm not a horror flick person, I got this based on other reviews I read, and overall, not bad. It had some twists I didn't see till almost the end of the movie, quite surprised at the ending to be honest. I would even watch it again if someone else wanted to see it. I did have some chuckles at some of the dialogue for sure though

This movie seriously needs to be riffed on MST3K style!,

This is one of those movies that would have made a perfect MST3K episode. I gave it three and a half stars because it was a lot of fun to watch. That said do not go into this movie expecting something serious.
You get it all: Corny Dialogue. Hilariously clumsy monsters/aliens. The obvious homemade sci-fi weapons. Instead of Keyboards glued to the wall of the science med lab they have old school Pocket PCs (yeah there is a special little HP Ipaq H5450 that should get an Oscar for playing the part of security door open module). Then there is the Billion dollar secret military science lab with a complicated nuclear automatic self destruct feature that can be remotely turned on, turned back off and then has to be manually reset for plot purposes before we find out it can't be manually reset due to plot convenience then out of nowhere the nuclear self destruct disco ball has a big red button on the side to make it go boom. And there are lots more plot inconsistencies-the Army kid peeing for 4 minutes was so funny. The entire movie is shot in a dark industrial basement. The main doctor female who also happens to be super trained in navy seal combat looks like a soft core porn starlet and stumbles her way feebly thru the movie like a typical soft sore porn starlet would in a horror movie. You may also not realize that the cast is standing around in a dark medical lab room doing nothing for a good bulk of the movie before the final 20 minutes of the movie which is when they all decide it is not safe to keep standing around a dark medical lab waiting to die. I felt sorry for the only Black character in the movie. He wasn't even in the movie and he was the first to die. And it was funny. Also I don't understand why Lamas did not cut his hair for the part of a US military professional. Sorry Pat Williams but I have never seen anyone in our military walking around donning Fabio locks and Russell Brand stubble.
