Book Description

August 1, 1994
When Dr. Emma McCallan is chosen to run a three-month series of NASA experiments aboard a space station, the stated purpose of her task is to monitor how Archaeons adapt to zero gravity. But the true origin of these single-cell organisms has not been revealed to McCallen -- or even to NASA -- and soon the world is threatened by a terrifying new disease that only Emma can kill, unless it kills her first.

Editorial Reviews

From Publishers Weekly

Torn between becoming a Top Gun flyer or a SEAL diver, Navy Commander Rick Tallman welcomes the timely diversion of a secret government mission piloting the revolutionary stealth submarine, the SA-12 ("The Steel Albatross"), off the coast of Guam. As he tries to determine whether a deep-sea mining ship's malfunctioning is due to routine error or sabotage, Tallman unexpectedly crosses wires with a deadly terrorist environmental cult deceptively known as The Ocean Friends. In his second techno-thriller after The Steel Albatross , former astronaut and SEALAB aquanaut Carpenter blends smooth writing and suspense--with a touch of romance as Tallman tries to decide between his love for a female Navy colleague and the pleasures and freedom of the single life. This is highly technical writing, though, and is likely to lose all but the most devoted lay readers.

4.0 out of 5 stars A SCI-FI WITH A REALISTIC APPROACH, October 22, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Deep Flight: Deep Flight (Paperback)
Scott Carpenter, a former astronaut and SEALAB aquanaut delivers realism and adventure into this sc-fi thrill. DEEP FLIGHT, is an underwater outburst of war and action. Keeps you on your toes and makes you wonder if can really happen. The search for the Sword becomes a scavenger hunt versus the Japanese. Rick Tallman plays an extraordinary part and magnificent Lietenant. This book reminds me of Crimson Tide. Even though I'm not a real big Sci-Fi fan, this book was very interesting once I read about hundred pages I got into it. If you aren't really into Sci-Fi, peep this out, it's worth your while.
