The Greatest Record Ever Recorded,
By A Customer
This review is from: Deep Inside a Cop's Mind (Audio CD)
Some people say this record praises police, some people say this is the biggest anti-cop record ever recorded, but it takes country/trucker/rock pro-cop novelty songs and turns them on their head in a remarkable way. Listen to Jim Goad's version of "In The Ghetto."

I bought this in a used CD store probably 10 years ago, and i've listened to it off and on ever since. It's amazing! A terrific sendup of all the sanctimonius police dialogue you've seen on TV reruns or in the movies. If you've chuckled at Dragnet's: "Marajuana is the flame, heroin is the fuse, LSD is the bomb." then you'll love this album. The music is good and the sarcasm is great -- subtle but deadly.

I bought this on CD a longtime ago and this was permanent fixture in my CD players for quite a while. Sadly I lost this one (yes there is a running theme with some of my reviews). I'm this was release on the Mp3 store and did miss this record a lot. I used to describe to friends and they like the concept but it's different when you can just hand it to them. So it obvious what the theme is and at the time it was release during the height of the LA Police problems by the people who did Answer Me! (which was an ok publication (I have an old collected book of the first 4 issues and the most interesting pieces was the 100 Top Serial Killers and 100 Top Suicides). Overall this is one the better ensemble record and who's who in the indie/garage/punk scenes at the time. Theme From SWAT, The Good The Bad The Ugly, and In The Ghetto are all awesome and rest really good too. I will say the joke is a little thin, so I don't listen to as often as i used to anymore. But still nothing like hearing "And the bullets fly" at a party and see the look of surprise and intrigue on people's faces.
