—James Cameron, Academy Award-winning director of Titanic and Avatar

“Dr. Joe MacInnis personifies the marrow of true leadership: when he believes in you . . . you believe in yourself. Here is an invaluable guide on how to exercise command and achieve results—from the depth of the high Arctic to the summits of the office towers piercing the urban skies.”
—Peter C. Newman, bestselling author

“Decades ago I dove under the ice at the North Pole with Dr. Joe and witnessed his unique style of leadership. In this riveting and informative book he takes you from the abyssal ocean to the moon and back—and reveals essential leadership qualities from the likes of Pierre Trudeau, Kathy Sullivan, James Cameron and Buzz Aldrin.”
—Gilbert M. Grosvenor, fourth president of the National Geographic Society

48 Laws of Power it's not, but that doesn't make it less interesting to follow along as Dr. Joe MacInnis takes us on a personal voyage of discovery. He's been in some pretty extreme situations and locations, and confronted with the need for providing leadership at every turn. Just reminds me that rising to the challenge comes in many forms at different times.

This is more of a wandering conversation or meditation on leadership rather than a guide. That being said, it is still a very useful and enlightening book. The conversational tone makes it an easy and enjoyable read, but if you're looking for a more comprehensive and organized leadership model this may disappoint. Still highly recommended.

The book doesn't add to the studies of leadership qualities. I expected far more from MacInnis and I didn't get it.
