Not just background music,

If you asked me what genre this music is, I'd have to say chillout. But I hesitate to say that that's all it is, because Deep Red is so much more than that. A lot of chillout is mere background music, the stuff you have playing in bars that is more like ambient noise than something catchy. This stuff is actually very listenable music, there are plenty of catchy hooks that aren't repeated over and over again like a dance remix. "We Took Pelham" and "Blade" are immediate standouts - you could definitely picture these songs in a Bond movie, although on the flipside they could also be video game music. There really isn't a bad song here, although I would say that the hidden track in "Outro" was a little pointless. A must buy if you are into movie soundtracks. An underrated music gem.

Deadly Avenger - Deep Red,

While most soundtracks are meant to elicit emotions as an accompaniment to what's on screen, Deadly Avenger's DEEP RED evokes movies that don't yet exist. Cinematic and breathtaking in schope, the album mixes the best parts of Ennio Morricone, John Williams and Goblin together in a beat blender. Even though the actual movie references are there ("The Taking of Pelham 1-2-3," blaxploitation, Italian giallo), the music creates its own imagery. Thus, we have the majestic string-and-horn section of "We Took Pelham" to the sly "In Search of the Pimpmobile." The swirling, spooky "Blade" slices and dices with intrigue and complexity, while "Day One" sets a house groove on some good ol' funk. "The Quest, Pt. 2" has a sample of haunting vocals reminiscent of The Future Sound of London's classic "My Kingdom," and "Love Sounds" throws tired R&B ballads into the garbage and adds shoegazing guitars instead. As a whole, DEEP RED is lush and stunning. You'll want to paint your whole house in its colors.

SHOCKED no one has done a review of this album. One of my all time favorite albums. Some of his earlier albums had rap mixed in with it. This one is nothing like that. Its like classical music (witch I dont like) made modern.
If you like electronica music, give it a shot, I'm sure you'll love it.
