Book Description

# 1 Sports Kindle Book
# 1 Golf Kindle Book
# 1 Sports Gambling Kindle Book

When Craig Waltrip, an associate at a Philadelphia sports agency, uncovers a meeting with his boss and a man from Augusta National Golf Course, all bets are on. Deep Rough takes the reader inside The Masters, revealing not only the historical backdrop of the famed tournament, but of a plot that could destroy the very fabric of the tournament itself. Filled with hole by hole descriptions, high stakes and even murder, Deep Rough will make even the casual golfer ponder what really goes on at the most famous golf course in the country. A story about The Masters that you've never dreamed could happen, Deep Rough is a page-turning novel that is sure to please golfers, sports fans and readers of thrillers everywhere.

"Once you pick up Deep Rough, forget putting it back down. Meticulously researched and superbly paced, Chris Blewitt does a fantastic job of painting a detailed and realistic Masters Tournament, as well as piling on relentless suspense that makes you constantly want to peak ahead to the next page." -- Michael Robertson, author of Regret (writing as Dan Dawkins)

I really enjoyed the book. It normally takes me a week or two to get through a novel, but I couldn't put this one down and did it 2 evenings. Golf fan or not this book will keep you turning the pages!!! Can't wait for another one by this author.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great characters and well thought out dialogue April 17, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
Deep Rough is unique in that it introduces the reader to the world of golf while also telling a story, and here and there the author includes little facts and side notes related to golf, which I found to be interesting. He did a great job of knowing when to add them in without taking away from the story or overdoing it. I've had the opportunity to travel around and visit several different golf courses so it was easy for me to get a mental picture of what Chris described in his book.

Another thing I enjoyed was the dialogue and the timeline of the story, both of which were well written. There was a natural flow that was easy to follow.

Around the middle of the story, things heat up with passages like this: "I said," the man began, "keep your mouth shut. You don't know anything, you didn't see anything, and you didn't hear anything. You know exactly what I'm talking about. Understood?"

Scenes like this keep the story moving and the reader invested. It's a good story overall, and I would recommend it to anyone - whether you are familiar with the golf industry or not.

1.0 out of 5 stars Terrible April 27, 2011
By Frankus
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
This book is badly written, and is full of factual errors and implausible scenarios. The Masters is NOT the oldest Major, it is in fact the youngest. Nobody in Vegas would take a million dollar bet that someone will not win a particular tournament (most people don't, even the best) especially someone who is "the best golfer never to have won a Major," and one of the main characters, who apparently goes to the Masters as a spectator every year, has to be told by marshals not to talk loudly while players are teeing off. And then he acts with surprise and outrage upon being told. And, the "hero" has got no idea how to get in contact with the pro around whom the story revolves, despite the fact that the hero's company is the pro's agent. It is as though someone who has no idea about golf decides to write a book, does a little reading about golf and The Masters, talks to a buddy who plays golf, and then makes a whole lot of stuff up. I had to force myself to finish it.

4.0 out of 5 stars A must read mystery for golfers and Masters fans.
Getting the golf right and making you feel like you are strolling throughout Augusta National during the Masters is just the start for this enjoyable and well crafted thriller.

3.0 out of 5 stars Ok for a short read.
If you are into golf this is an ok thriller and mystery. The author could use some work in foreshadowing and character development, but it was an interesting read nonetheless.

3.0 out of 5 stars not bad......
The book was somewhat predictable, but at least the writer seemed to know his Master's facts and history. It was worth reading.

Pretty weak story. If you really need to read something with golf and Augusta in it, go ahead. Not very memorable though.

3.0 out of 5 stars The Masters with a sinister plot.
I read this book because of my love for golf. I am not a great fiction reader so my level of enjoyment was minimal. To others who enjoy fiction, it would be a more enjoyable read. Read more

More About the Author

A writer as well as a reader, I am always perusing the virtual bookshelves looking for the next great novel. I enjoy reading thrillers and mysteries of popular authors like John Sandford, Lee Child, Harlan Coben, T. Jefferson Parker, and Vince Flynn. There are also some new authors that have caught my eye like Michael Wallace, Dan Dawkins, Cheryl Bradshaw and J. Carson Black. I've even inspired my 14-yr old nephew, Jake, to write & publish his own short story, Third Time's the Charm. I'm a history buff which brought about the writing of The Chemist, The Lost Journal and the newly released Foxworth Academy. As a golf enthusiast, I thoroughly enjoyed writing Deep Rough. A 10-handicapper, I am still trying to get my handicap back in the single digits like it was at one time (5.5) before kids!
