First off, the world/map size is almost ridiculously huge, which, in my opinion, is awesome. You can literally spend hours trying to uncover every corner of the map. There are a ton of quests, it's not just an empty world, there is something everywhere. The classes are overall unique to any RPG, as with the play-style and combo/combat arts system, by all means not a one, or two skill system combat system (buffs, summons,..). Weapons are not as unique to classes as some armor is, skills determine proficient use in weapons/combat arts, not as much as your choice in class. You can switch weapon sets throughout leveling, not being restricted to a certain kind. Many, many hours of game-play.
Overall it's a great 'any-time chaser' to unwind and play that will always be there with something yet to discover.

Sacred 2 was a fair game; an ambitious and epic action RPG in the mode of Diablo and Ultima, but it was plagued with bugs and crashes upon release. Even after the initial release was patched it became a solid game, if somewhat lackluster. With the inclusion of all of the patches, a new class and two new areas to explore, Sacred 2 Gold picks up a good game and makes it great! The game runs smoother, and largely error free (I've encountered a couple minor problems, mostly clipping issues or problems with getting stuck in the terrain) and the whole game world seems to be revitalized. there are more secrets to uncover, more quests to complete and exploration is rewarded with more mini-bosses and interesting places to discover.

This is a very enjoyable game, but it is also exceptionally large, 23 square miles worth of large, so expect to spend a lot of time. the main quest can be completed in around 60 to 100 hours, but you won't see much along the way and some of the areas will be brutal if you don't explore and level up.

As for story, this game has tons of story. There is not only the main quest to follow, but each class has their own class-based quest in single player mode. on top of that, every side-quest (and there are TONS of side-quests) gives a deeper understanding of what life is like in Ancaria. There are also tomes that you can discover that cover everything from ancient history, to magic, to monsters, to recipes and each one makes the world see that much more real.

I highly recommend this game for people who like action RPGs, hack and slash action, and very detailed worlds that you can explore at your leisure.

Best hardcore ARPG to date, nothing has come close to this day, my ps3 version had a scratch so i bought a new sealed version, that's how good of an impression i got from it, no online play on pc without extra effort so try console for that. No skill resets need one character to "shop" for slot upgrades for low level characters/itself, can use shared stash to make best use of this. Bargaining/enhanced perception is shopping skills. Shadow warrior can't have bargaining because it's an undead warrior And not popular with merchants features the largest open gameworld of any topdown game i have played in a while, even give you survivability bonuses for staying alive and exploring map also gives you bonuses. The game almost has too much content and can take over 2,000 hours to achieve max level and by then you would have a perfect build/character

-Great Game
-Steam Activated (i'm told it has less bugs and problems than the non-steam version)
-Would recommend to anyone look for a loot RPG that breaks from the Diablo 2 mold.
-Unique, unorthodox classes

-Devs went under so there's no more support
-vanilla game has a lot of bugs without the community patch (which was made by a couple people who used to be the devs before they went under)
-Servers went down so there's no more multiplayer (you can still play online over lan using Hamachi orTunngle)

Sacred 2 is a lot like its predecessor despite what the posted screen shots, and for that, I'm thankful. While many of the game mechanics don't really hold a candle up to other ARPGs on the market (difficult targeting, difficult free shooting, etc), many of the other mechanics are terrific and interesting. The variety of statistics and bonuses one can balance are fun and make for a wide range of builds.

Having said that, the story is still very disjointed and frequently tiresome. I know, I aren't supposed to play ARPGs for the story, but it really too much to ask for it to be a flowing, understandable whole? So many of the side quests involve going out, killing X number of things and returning that I hesitate to actually click on a quest giver, and I absolutely am sick of escorting NPCs around when their sole purpose seems to be running out, attracting enemies, and dying ever so horribly before I can rescue them. Seriously, there needs to be a follower control menu or something wherein a person can choose "Just stay right by me" and move on!

Overall, it is a good game that was well worth the 5.00 I paid on sale. 10.00 probably. 20.00, not really, not with the wealth of other games out there that can occupy my time. Firm up the story, fix some of the mechanics, repair the followers, and you'll have a lot more of my attention.
