4.0 out of 5 stars Great techno by Toonami
Deep Space Bass has 18 tracks of great beats straight from the Toonami openings and music videos. My only gripe is that it's missing a few of my favorite tunes that should've been on there, but for whatever reason, didn't make the cut. Anyway, here's the full list:

1. Ignition-Toonami opening music I think

2. Gundams Are On Earth- Gundam Wing intro music

3. Anvil...

3.0 out of 5 stars Pure Bass, not to be confused with Japanese orig. BGM
This is not quite what I had expected. When I heard that Toonami was going to release a soundtrack called 'Deep Space Bass' through the record label Rhino, I made this a CD on my 'must get' list because of the previous good work Rhino accomplished on the 'Best of Anime' soundtrack, and thinking I was going to get some of the same, original electronic BGM's to the kickin'...

1. Ignition-Toonami opening music I think

2. Gundams Are On Earth- Gundam Wing intro music

3. Anvil Snare Remix-Sailor Moon intro music

4. Dragon-DBZ intro music

5. Information Leak-Another Gundam Wing opening

6. Arabic-Another DBZ opening

7. D&B remix-Midnight Run theme

8. Depth Charge-Blue Submarine No. 6 intro music

9. Tension-Tenchi theme music

10. Prayer-old Toonami intro music

11. Crash Groove-dunno, but it's cool...

12. Puff & Bass-Powerpuff Girls intro

13. Dark Night-Batman intro...?

14. Starwind-Outlaw Star intro

15. Capslock-Ronin Warriors intro

16. Broken Promise-music to the children themed music video

17. Walking Stick-music from the "Technologically Superior" music video

18. Space time-I have no idea...it's not from the Space themed music video like the title implies

All the tracks are the full versions of the songs, so you've probably never heard most of 'em all the way through. There's also a link in the CD to a section of the Toonami site where you can compose your own music videos(not very good, but it's the thought that counts), download some icons, hear a preview of the music that'll be used for "Lockdown"(the next big Toonami event, like "The Intruder"), and watch the music video "Mad Rhetoric". All in all, a very nice CD.

5.0 out of 5 stars A very Impressive collection of Toonami intros (prolonged), October 30, 2004
This review is from: Deep Space Bass: Toonami (Audio CD)
When I first heard of Toonami's deep-space bass CD, Toonami had long ceased airing on weekdays and became slightly lower in "the best TV block program" category. Despite this, I decided to get "Deep Space Bass." I was feeling nostalgic at the time. To my great surprise the CD is the best collection of Prolonged Toonami intros ever! There are 18 tracks in all on the CD and none of them are even the slightest bit disappointing, however it will take some time getting used to. And as a added plus there is one track never heard on Television:

Track ONE: Ignition (as heard in Toonami's "Advanced Robotics" Comercial) is started off with an introduction by the Absolution's computer AI: S.A.R.A., then the music begins. A very enthralling track. 4/5

Track Two: Gundams are on Earth (as heard in Gundam Wing's Endless Waltz and final airing intro) is just as good! The music is compelling and features bits from the original GW soundtrack! A real treat to listen to! 5/5

Track Three: Anvil Snare remix (Sailor Moon S Remixed Promo theme) is a collection of strange sounds and stereo pumping beats. Its not as good as the first two tracks but earns a thumbs up from me. 3/5

Track Four: Dragon (As heard in Toonami's "Double whammy" Midnight run promo and not a DBZ intro I've heard) is a very strange track to listen to in its entirety, mostly because I'm so used to hearing it clipped and shortened. But all in all the most recognizable parts in the song is the big drawer for me. 5/5

Track Fifteen: Capslock (As heard in Gundam Wing's first Toonami Intro and not the "Ronin Warriors" intro) is the more exciting track to listen to, especially if your replaying the rememberable quotes used in the inro: "What the heck...? That's a mobile suit... its a Gumdam!" By far my favorite track! 5/5

Track Fourteen: STARWIND (As heard in OUTLAW STAR's Toonami intro) is a very melody and fast-paced electronic driven track, with a Japanese dance type sound to it. A keeper! 5/5

Track Six: Arabic (Dragon Ball Z's First T.O.M. 1 Intro) will give you a very nostalgic feeling as you listen to it, the strange assortment of sounds like gongs, drums and strange guitar sounding rift as if you plucked the sting are face passed with the occasional pause; "Goku, why aren't you here?!". 4/5

Track Seven: D&B remix is Toonami's Midnight run intro/promo, that is amazingly more like a dance track from a club than something you'd hear from Toonami (no offense Toonami-faithfuls). Its full of enough pumping bass and sketching beats to keep the heart racing or the mind liking. "Getting Late. Nothing's on and your too tired to hit the sack. Don't worry we're here for you..." 4/5

Track Eight: Depthcharge (Blue Sub 6's Toonami intro) is a strange track to listen to. Behind its music there are pinging noises that Submarine's radar makes when it picks something up and a strange hollow drumming noise. This isn't my favorite intro song but its easy enough to listen to and hard not to like if your a Toonami/Blue sub. Six fan. 3/5

Track Nine: Tension (Tenchi Muyo's Toonami Intro) is yet another one that hits the nail straight on the head. The music is compelling and the almost recognizable Asian instruments are something to smile about. 5/5

Track Ten: Prayer is an older version of Toonami's opening intro and is yet another piece of nostalgia for me, but has a strange beginning to it. Its quite compelling. 5/5

The rest of the tracks (Darknight, Crashgroove, Puff&bass, Broken promise, walking stick, and spacetime) are just as good to listen to. Deep space base gets Five stars. Job well done! --- [a 5 out of 5]

4.0 out of 5 stars nice, but lacking, June 29, 2001

Overall a good CD, but seriously lacking in the old-school. The best Toonami song ever was their Robotech theme, which is missing. The rest of the songs are nice, though. The CD really shows the changing priorities at Toonami- they're more anime focused and less interested in their old-school toons- Thundercats, Voltron, Robotech, etc. If you've watched Toonami for only a year or two, buy this immediately. If you've been with them since the beginning, however, you may feel a little forgotten.

4.0 out of 5 stars Deep Space Bass is great! (but it does have a flaw), May 23, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Deep Space Bass: Toonami (Audio CD)
I must say that I have been waiting for this CD since I began watching Toonami. I have always loved the tunes used for the shows, and this CD is a great addition to any Anime fan's collection. I did find, however, that there was a severe lack of Old School tunes. I personally bought the CD primarily for the song used before Robotech aired. That is the best tune used by Toonami (in my opinion). So, if you're going to buy this CD for Old School music, don't, because there isn't any. But, if you don't care that much about Old School, get this CD right away! It is well worth the price! Peace out.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Ultimate Dimension, May 24, 2004

This review is from: Deep Space Bass: Toonami (Audio CD)
There's a world that most of us dream about that we can't create. Toonami has created it with their music. This CD brings the sound of the ultimate confrontation with massive bass. Along with the aura you are in when you drift off into the deep space. Thus, you have "Deep Space Bass". Track 1 brings the intro to the confrontation. Then, track 2 immediately takes you into the action. Then, there are tracks such as 7 and 14 that allow you to unwind from everything around you. A few older toonami beats are indeed missing. I noticed that and I'm not even a veteran fan. Track 14 should be longer. Besides that, there are no flaws to this original Hi-Tech electronic sound. Every track is worth the money. They even spiced up the powerpuff girls theme(Toonami theme, not cartoon theme).

I, like others, have heard of more than one out. I've heard of two following this original. If anybody has information about these, contact me at djfresh14@hotmail.com. If you don't have this CD, it is a must have. Get it while you can. It is rare. Peace.

5.0 out of 5 stars An AMAZING mix of the best moody techno beats around!, December 12, 2002

Simply breathtaking! This is one of the very few albums I can listen to from start to finish. The album flows so perfectly... you begin to anticipate the next song before it even begins! The beats are so rythmic and strong that you cant stop listening. It's everything it was designed to be for and SO muh more. Joe Boyd Vigil has done an outstanding job. Each song is entirely unique, while mainting that same, feeling of being isolated in space in some surreal galaxy. Not to mention all the awesome Enhanced CD bonuses, including wallpapers, custom icons, links to online tracks and remixes not on the CD, and a unique cartoon planet website only for people who buy the CD, and so much more! This is my favorite album in my collection, and recommend it to EVERYONE. If you're into moody, engaging, unique beats, this one's for you.

i bought this to remember how toonami used to be... before they added kiddie faces to the characters to attract a younger generation. it has, of course, gone away now... like most things do. i'll remember it for the enjoyment it gave me when i was in school... it took a while to ship, but that's because it shipped from germany.

I loved Toonami as a kid. Actually, I still do. I didn't even know about this soundtrack until earlier this year, but man am I glad I found it ! For those of you who don't know, Toonami was a block of programming on Cartoon Network that aired from 1997 to 2008. It showed off some of the best anime cartoons at the time. Toonami had style to burn, even in the songs it played over it's show introductions. These are the full versions of those songs. Joe Boyd Virgil does a great job with these tracks. Dark, cool pulsing beats at the start of the cd get you in the mood for dark space exploration. The songs build up in intensity as they go on. My favorite tracks are D & B Remix and Spacetime (Tracks 7 & 18.). The songs have nice ethereal quality to them, as long as you take them in the context of being "space" music. If you didn't, they would still hold up great anyway. One thing that might dissapoint fans though, is that the songs here are almost exclusively from 99-01 era. Fans of the Moltar Toonami days won't be hearing those songs anytime soon unforntuneately. Another thing is the downloadable content. If you open up the cd in you're computer drive there's a link to a now dead website. The insert in the case noted that Macromedia and Quicktime were registered trademarks, so I would have to imagine it was something really cool. *Sigh.* All in all, it's great for what it is. Definitely one best things I've ever spent 30 dollars on. 8)

By the way, for those who are pining too see all those old Toonami clips and special episodes, you can look up Toonami Arsenal and relive the magic all over again. Now as Tom would say, "Stay gold.". 8)

5.0 out of 5 stars Toonami Beats are the SH*TS, September 24, 2001

This review is from: Deep Space Bass: Toonami (Audio CD)
This cd is probably the best cd toonami will ever make. There is one flaw though. when i got the cd there were some titles different from the mp3's that u find from their website, but thats about it. but their beats r from thier original show so this somthin u must have if u love the show and their music. it has almost all of their intro music of the shows but they lack old school music from the past. But like i said if u luve anyting and everything about toonami u gotta get this cd cuz they have some beats that just can't be topped and if they were there wouldnt be a word to describe them
