Rather than making you want to stay out of the water, Deep Trouble might inspire you to dive right in and explore the briny depths of the deep blue sea.

3.0 out of 5 stars good only for kids about 8-11
the book maybe enticing to young kids but compared to great pieces by the authors shakespeare, lois lowry, louis sachar, and avi. I read the book about 3 times when i was young. It was ok. nothing scary, but it would make a great movie. i suggest you get it from the library instead of buying it because it WILL get boring.

Deep Trouble is more of an adventure story than a horror yarn, but there is an intense run in with a hammerhead shark that's good for a shiver or two. Recommended reading for sea monster fans.

5.0 out of 5 stars I really liked this book!, April 12, 2005
Rather than making you want to stat out of the water, Deep Trouble might inspire you to dive in exlpore caves.

While taking their summer vacation with their Uncle [Dr. D], a scientist. Billy and his sister Sheena found a mermaid. Things take a turn for the worse when Billy actually finds one.

Deep Trouble is not a horror book, It's more like an adventure book. There is an intense run in with a hammerhead shark that's good for chills. Recommended reading for sea monster fans.

5.0 out of 5 stars "Just when you thought it was safe...", January 31, 2004

I was addicted to these books when I was younger and it wasn't until I was majoring in education in college that I figured out why. They were interesting with bizarre plot twists that most 9-12 year olds don't think about and they were short (usually between 110-130 pages). I could read the whole thing in a day.

My parents also didn't have a lot of heartache with buying me a new book because these are relatively inexpensive (in the neighborhood of 3-5 bucks each).

R.L. Stine's "Goosebumps" books aren't scary, just kind of creepy. There aren't graphic descriptions of murder and mayhem. Just some ghosts, werewolves, or potions. The main character is alive in the end, and the final chapter resolves everything.

**Keep in mind, R.L. Stine has other books that aren't in the "Goosebumps" series that tend to be a little harsher when it comes to hauntings and plot. They are written more for the 12-14 age group and are longer (around 150-200 pages).

4.0 out of 5 stars Mermaids?, March 15, 2010
Billy and his sister Sheena spend their summer with their uncle who is a marine biologist. He loves snorkelling and dreams about becoming a great underwater explorer. One day he overhears a conversation between his uncle and representatives from a museum. The strangers persuade his uncle to investigate rumours that a mermaid has been spotted in the area. Surely there is no such thing?

This is a nice story in the Goosebumps tradition.

5.0 out of 5 stars Be Frightened in Goosebumps, November 9, 2008
This book is one of my student's favorites. Check out her review below:

BE FRIGHTENED IN GOOSEBUMPS

This book is about 12 year old Billy and 10 year old Sheena and how they get into real monster like trouble. If you dare to get in monsterous trouble join Bill, Sheena, Dr. D, and most importantly the master of fright. This book called Goosebumps Deep Trouble is for people who don't get nightmares after they read scary books.

One reason this book is scary and unearthly is because Billy sees sea monster. But one sea monster saved him from the other. I think this is scayr and supernatural because one sea monster saved him from a hammerhead shark! Also why would a sea monster try to kill one of their kings?

Another reason this book is scary and unearthly is because when Billy went back into the water he was almost eaten by a hammerhead shark. But luckily a mermaid came to save him. So she stood between the hammerhead sharka dn Billy and all of a sudden the shark swam away. I think this is a downright scary because where in the world did that mermaid come from?!!

My final reason this book is scary and unearthly is because on the front cover, the picture of the skeleton head almost scared me. If you had the book I had righ tnow you would know what I meant. The pictures on the cover pop out! If you felt the hammerhead shark teeth you will feel a little scared.

This is why Goosebumps Deep Trouble is a good book for people who don't have nightmares after they read scary books. You heard me!, if you're that person get up! If you have to look everywhere for that book then do! There's not much copies left!

4.0 out of 5 stars Deep Trouble, January 28, 2007
A Kid's Review
When I first saw the cover of this book it looked really cool to me because it had a big shark on it. I thought this book would be more about sharks like other reviews said but it had mermaids in it instead. Even though it wasn't really about sharks I still like the characters and the storyline of the book. This book is about a brother and sister, Sheena and Billy who are visiting there uncle Dr.Deep, who studies things in the water. In the book everyone is on a ship. Later in the book Billy finds a mermaid in the water. This book isn't a super scary book, but it is for sure one you have to read in the series, its a good book!!

5.0 out of 5 stars a real exciting adventure, October 21, 2003
A Kid's Review
This book is about a kid named Billy, and his sister Sheena. They live on the ocean on a boat. Billys uncle, Dr. D, is an Oceanographer. He studies the sea. Billy and Sheena go scuba diving to study underwater life, and find new discoveries. They find a lot. Billy even came face to face with a hammerhead shark! One day they found a mermaid. The most amazing discovery in history. Everyone fights over the mermaid because she is worth a lot of money. If you like a really exciting book with lots of action then you would want to read Goosebumps. I thought this was a great book! Iwould give it five stars.
