4.0 out of 5 stars Who needs plot?
I will give this book 4 stars because it succeeds admirably at being what it wanted: pure "plot what plot" escapism. I don't generally read anthologies or collections of short stories because I always want to dig deeper, and often end up unsatisfied, but I picked this up on the strength of the authors' bodies of work, and it was fun.

3.0 out of 5 stars Purely Smut....
I got this book as a promotional type item from another website, and because I absolutely LOVE Radlyffe's writings, but this was mildly disappointing. I say this because, it was pure and simple smut with no real plot. I was hoping it would at least have some direction, but every chapter was about a different couple, or person, and who they were f***ing. I guess what I was...

It clearly contains lots of sex, in a variety of ways, using a variety of techniques and tools, with a variety of partners. I was very entertained at the descriptions of Radclyffe's spreadsheet, constructed to keep everything straight (as it were). It got a little old to read the book straight through as there isn't much variation to build in to a girl-meets-girl(s)/girls-have-sex scenario, making a one-seating read border on tiresome, but picking it up to read a story or two a day was fun, and it was delightful to meet some old characters from other books again, which helped lend some depth. In addition there were enough spot-on observations about human psychology, and moments of true emotion, that on the whole it succeeds, and I'm curious about what the next vacation scenario (reportedly on the Las Vegas Strip) will give us.

If you're looking for plot or character development, this book will not meet your requirements. But if you're looking for a book that doesn't require much thought as it romps through numerous bedrooms, you should be satisfied (no pun intended).

Well, does make you wonder now about those cruises designed for women only...I will say the most pleasant surprise (beyond some of the steamy descriptions of various activities) was some of the stories reprised characters from both authors past books, what a great way just to 'hear' from them, even if it was for just a few short pages, clever idea, I hope more show up in Vegas!

I do agree with the other reviewer, not one to read in a single sitting but great here and there for some short story reading.

5.0 out of 5 stars What a TREAT!, October 30, 2007
This review is from: In Deep Waters: Cruising the Seas (Paperback)
Sexy, entertaining, emotional, funny and sexy.

I bought this book as the author's books are fabulous and always deliver with great writing and stories.

The book progresses from the start of a cruise and moves day thru night taking the reader through different lives over the duration of the cruise.

The bonus for readers of the authors is that some familiar characters show up in stories.

This is a keeper.

5.0 out of 5 stars Yes, it's Karin Kallmaker and Radclyffe but no, it's not romance, March 12, 2011

Holy Moly! If you read these authors, you know that their novels involve romance and happily-ever-after with some nice smoldering heat built in. This collection of short stories is, with a few romantic exceptions, heat and sex and wow. I had no idea that Karin Kallmaker's writing could be so delightfully graphic.

I love reading romance -- being present while women fall in love is quite a thrill. I also like reading erotica but have noticed that over the last decade or so the lesbian anthologies have contained more intense bondage/discipline and dominance/submission than I can get behind. "In Deep Waters" goes beyond vanilla while not being too heavy. This collection has more of the kind of interactions that Radclyffe introduces with Bren in "Lonely Hearts Club" and the main characters in "Night Call". Don't expect the women to fall in love but they DO have fun. You might too.

3.0 out of 5 stars Purely Smut...., September 3, 2009
This review is from: In Deep Waters: Cruising the Seas (Paperback)
I got this book as a promotional type item from another website, and because I absolutely LOVE Radlyffe's writings, but this was mildly disappointing. I say this because, it was pure and simple smut with no real plot. I was hoping it would at least have some direction, but every chapter was about a different couple, or person, and who they were f***ing. I guess what I was thinking or at least hoping for was some background on the characters. The one good part that I have to say is that the second chapter, which was written by Radclyffe, was about Graham Yardley and Anna, who I read about in Radclyffe's story/book "Love's Melody Lost", and I loved these characters! So, not trying to be mean or anything, but I suggest you think about buying this book before you do... But, in truth, it was very well-written, if not graphic! : )
