Brilliant.,

This is the most "Gothic" or "dark" sounding album of Stadler's. I'm not familliar with Rule's other work, but this disk is my favourite of the Faerie series. It's absolutely gorgeous, with transcendental musick and divine near-operetic aethereal vocals atop. She does sound like a Fae queen. I would recommend this to anyone who embraces the more dark side of Fae; someone big on introspection and meditation. This is a great release.. thanks you guys for such a gift.

Enchanting & Exquisite,

I am in love with Gary Stadler's new release "Deep Within a Faerie Forest". It is absolutely magical and Wendy Rule's voice is nothing less than enchanting. I had never heard her music before but now am beginning to explore that more deeply as well. These are Gary Stadler's very best songs in my opinion and this record really transcends even the amazing Fairy-themed releases he has put out previously. Exquisitely beautiful.

Deep Within is Exquisitely Enchanting,

This is definitely my absolute favorite of Gary Stadler's CD's. This latest collaboration with bewitching vocalist Wendy Rule takes Gary's enchanting music into a whole new dimension, a somewhat darker place within the mystical Fairie realms. Gary Stadler has made some incredible music over the last decade with some pretty spectacular female vocalists including the late Singh Kaur on the dreamy Fairy Night Songs and Stephannie on the magically inspired Fairy Heart Magic (my favorite until this one). But Deep Within A Faerie Forest is more hauntingly beautiful and more deeply moving and stirring than his previous releases. Rule's vocals are sensuous, lush and quivering with a fantastic intensity while still remaining diaphanously radiant and pure and the lyrics are just extraordinary. And Gary's piano work combined with Lisa Lynne's harp has never sounded better. Each song possesses a unique quality, like individual fairytales woven into a sparkling magical veil, each with it's own distinct feeling, taking you deeper into the mythic. "Midwinter" is my very favorite with lyrics that just want to make me run into the forest and never return. Thank you Gary Stadler for making the Faerie realms more and more real with each new album. Ooops ! Are those wings coming out of my shoulders ! Magick Happens !

I absolutely LOVE this album. It is magical, spellbinding, and very calming. My grandson, age 6, also loves the CD. It is his and my favorite CD, and we play it often.

The fairies are closer than ever now,

Beautiful, magical album that really sends my consciousness to dance with fairies and gets me dreaming of living in a green woods with lovely people around. For the one who was blaming the album I would say that you yourself are a freak, because your senses are so dull that you can't feel this magic anymore. And if you ask enlightened people, they say that fairies exist, but only in the right side of a brain... So only your feminine, intuitive part can see the fairies, and ghosts and other spirits that co-exist in another dimension parallel to our own. Small children can also see them. But if you live too much in your head you can't feel any of these things...
The artists in this records sure have experienced themselves and they share it in such a beautiful way that brings tears of gratitude to my eyes. So maximum respect to them!

Dance to the Music, the Myth,
By Myra Schjelderup "Ignolopi" (Salt Lake City, Utah, USA) - See all my reviews (VINE VOICE) (REAL NAME)
This review is from: Deep Within a Faerie Forest (Audio CD)
Deep Within a Faerie Forest has some of the most enchanting music I've ever encountered. The Faerie legends held in this music are beautiful, made more so by the chosen instruments and the powerful voice of Wendy Rule.
I have most of Gary Stadler's music (don't miss out!), and it's all lovely, but overall this CD is my favorite. The style of music and performance of closest matches my perception of Faeries -- lovely, playful, yet causing just a little unease. The Songs: First, there are actually 11 tracks on this CD, as you can see on the image of the back cover (the track list on Amazon does not list The Lake Isle of Innisfree). The run time is just under an hour. 1. Invocation is a relaxing, light-hearted song. ("Down from the trees, down from the sky, into the dark forest we fly...") 2. Fly Away is slow, with a piano as the primary instrument. 3. Dance of the Wild Faëries is by far my favorite. Everyone I've urged to listen to this song has asked where they can get the CD. Drawing on the myths of mushroom rings and years past in Faerie land, the verse as well as music draw me into a Faerie world every time. ("A mushroom circle of red and white, and myriad faeries surrounded me." "Are we kind or are we vicious? Nectar, poison, or delicious?" "Once you are here you are caught in a trance and the world can grow old in a single night." "I wandered down to the forest one night, led by a music strange and clear. If you happen to pass when the moon is light and the veil is thin you will find me here....") 4. Are You Coming with Us? I would call an instrumental song heavy with mystery. Rule's voice provides the melody, but without words, and the faerie whispers. Lovely, and a little creepy. 5. Uyll is a harp-prominent instrumental piece, pretty, not one of my favorites. 6. Lus y Vaaish, a piano instrumental piece. (If only there was sheet music for this album!) Again, pretty, not a favorite, but I like the mix-in of the darker tone. 7. Midwinter is the longest song, running over 8 minutes, and worth every second. Much of it is instrumental and humming, on beautiful sustained background notes; the parts with lyrics are equally enchanting. ("The wild music leads us in a trace, spinning till the dance is inside us....") 8. The Lake Isle of Innisfree is incredibly calming, with minimal instruments adding a subtle background to Rule's slow, soothing, and impressively low voice. ("I will arise and go now, and go to Innisfree... Nine bean-rows will I have there, a hive for the honeybee...") 9. The Infinite Shore, rather sad but filled with hope, I love the strings melody. ("Place your heart upon the sea Trust the flow of destiny... find another shore...") 10. L'Pavane, another instrumental piece, mainly harp, with some vocal. 11. Deep Within the Forest reminds me of a music-box lullaby, it's charming. ("I will see there what can never be seen... Faeries come out... I'll stay here, dancing endlessly...") For those who love Celtic or World music, or everything Fae, this CD is highly recommended. (Note: The booklet is essential, it has all the lyrics!) "Come and dance as the wild faeries dance, in a magical circle, a Faerie ring..."

This is my favorite of Gary Stadler's music. Wendy Rule's voice is crystal clear and ethereal. You almost wish you could jump into that other world and fly away. My granddaughter just loves this CD. Her eyes sparkle and she sings along and wishes she were in the fairy world too. Truly a masterpiece that one can never tire of.

A great CD filled with great songs, an angelic voice of Wendy Rule, and great overall music. What else would you ever need?
I bought this CD several years ago and I still find it filled, from beginning to end, with great songs, one after another. Today a CD rarely comes out with so much in one CD. Maybe two or three songs on a CD actually are good or great songs. But not in this case, all songs are great. Listen to it for yourself and decide. It will be worth your while to listen and be convinced for yourself.
