Jonathan Chase is a hypnotist who has REAL world experience and it shines nicely through his 2nd revision of his book 'Deeper and Deeper'. This second edition offers more information on making money with Stage Hypnosis and on the business side of things which is a great idea. Most people don't realize when you are a Stage Hypnotist EVERYWHERE you go is a chance to increase your marketing!

Jonathan's book offers a great amount of information that can easily be used by the new Stage Hypnotist or the seasoned veteran. One of the nicest things I liked about the book is Jonathan's concern for safety of the hypnotist and the members on stage. This is something I have not seen in other Stage Hypnosis books, but Jonathan makes sure when you finish the book there is no doubt that 'Safety ALWAYS comes first!'. He has lots of good tips such as in some skits you should say, "You may get upset at the hypnotist, but you will not hit him, anyone else, or throw anything!" (paraphrasing).

The books also covers the things we all need to know like pre-setup, inductions (several), overall flow of the show, ending the show, and various skits in the back that can be used for a nice 'frame work' to build on. The way Jonathan writes is clear, concise, funny, and easy to follow (the way I like it!). His years of experience definitely shine through and will save you lots of headaches no matter what your level of experience! Again, this is one book you want to have in your Stage Hypnosis arsenal!

Having been interested (and somewhat involved) in hypnosis since I was 12, I have often thought of becoming a stage hypnotist. I have read a number of books on the subject. And, not to be critical, most have contained so much superfluous information that it became a chore to finish the books.

This one, however, was a true pleasure to read. It covers the topic thoroughly, without any long-winded dissertations on the 1001 rabbit trails the others seem to find. It is straight-forward and covers every aspect of what a hypnotist would need or like to know to do stage hypnosis. Of course good personal training would be very helpful, and Jon holds Master Stage Hypnosis classes. But I do believe that a talented hypnotist could take his craft to the stage with the information in this book and be quite successful. Though I am also convinced that after reading the book he will want to take the class anyway, because Jon is such a funny and entertaining character.

Everything from inductions to stage arrangement is covered in this book. From the best music and sound effects to proper planning of every detail (and he covers EVERY detail) to give the audience the very best show possible. There is even an impressive list of skits. More than enough to do all the shows one might ever do. Including, how to do shows for audiences of all ages (G-rated) to shows for adults only (R-rated). You will never need another reference for doing stage hypnosis.

A friend recommend that I read this book to help me understand why "newbies" must learn from stage hypnotists, as I am someone who just got started in this field in April 06. Being in front of the audience the pressure is on, and who better to learn from the master at stage hypnotism? Jonathan Chase is extraordinarily talented at what he does, and his book, Deeper and Deeper, not only demystified stage hypnotism for me, but provided and easy to read discussion on hypnotism, suggestibility and trance phenomenon. I am more secure in knowing I can do stage hypnotism after having read his book, and now know what it takes to ensure a safe and fun show.

Deeper and Deeper, by Jonathon Chase, is worth reading and rereading. Full of practical information on all phases of hypnosis and stage hypnosis, DAD highlights the important practical aspects of hypnosis as a performance art, including many practical scenarios for a successful show. Safety concerns for the audience and the hypnotist are addressed, in addition to the inclusion of several induction methods. Chase's fine-tuning of the inductive process is noteworthy, as is his skepticism about the so-lengthy-relaxation inductions indulged in by many stage hypnotists. He is oriented to a more dynamic and less boring stage presence--which, to my mind, is a good thing.

Buy this book and take a gander at the world of stage hypnosis from the viewpoint of someone who has been doing classy hypno-performances for decades. Better yet, buy this book and take one of Jonathon Chase's seminars in hypnosis, chinosis, or stage hypnotism.

Don't get my wrong, this was a good book. However, I was really looking for something else. I felt more like Mr. Chase was preaching to me at times rather than training me. As a professional hypnotist and novice stage hypnotist, I was looking for a step-by-step guide (like a Dummies version to stage hypnosis) including marketing tips as well as stage banter to help get the crowd going.
I like Mr. Chase's dry sense of humor, though, and that made the read quick and easy. Most things translated from England to the US pretty easily and the book did give a couple of "need to use scripts" in the read. Those are very helpful.
I guess all in all I would purchase this again simply to have in my library of hypnosis books.

this book is written in conversational style and was interesting.The topic was what it was suppposed to be but I was hoping for more routine hypnosis info .
The book is exclusively for learning stage hypnosis.If you want to learn to perform hypnosis I believe you would profit greatly from Mr. Chase's writings.I don't believe there are many books on this topic.

This is written in a uncomplicated way and is such a good read. It explains how to perform stage hypnotism so clearly and is very easy to follow. I have now bought his other books and DVD's which are also excellent.

This book is the real deal. Short and to the point, no BS. Well written and very readable, no previous experience necessary. You won't believe how Mr. Chase makes the art of stage hypnosis so easy to learn.

Deeper and Deeper is perhaps the most useful, most actionable book for new Stage Hypnotists to hit the market. Well-written, clear, concise and most importantly PRACTICAL. Anyone interested in learning how Stage Hypnosis Works, or wanting to learn how to become a Stage Hypnotist, will find great value in this outstanding book. Highly recommended.
