Goin' Deep,

While looking for a copy of the latest Madonna single "Die Another Day", I came upon this CD-Maxi, for her "Erotica" single "Deeper & Deeper". Deciding to skip the newbie, I bought this carefree dance pop gem. A disco pop stormer, the track itself is extremely catchy, pulling you into the groove and making you feel the song. The mixes are excellent, and provided by Shep Pettibone and David Morales. Shep provides the main extended mix and a more club thumping "Deep Makeover" mix. The other main mix by Morales is quite good, opening strong and taking the listener on a "Klub" ready ride. Secondary dubs were provided by both mixers, while I prefer "David's Love Dub", I enjoy both mixes. The last track is a short beats sampling, not too bad, but not anything special either. The main draw are the main mixes, great for an already wonderful tune. Great Madonna classic.

One of Madonna's best songs!,

A great dance song with some good remixes! Some say the "Erotica" era was Madonna's worst...I beg to differ! Deeper and Deeper is my personal favorite pre-Ray-of-Light Madonna song.

This cd is one of my favs from Madonna.
All 7 songs are hot. 1)Album Edit: Just the radio version 2)Shep's Deep Makeover Mix: the best mix on the cd!! Really hot! 3)David Klub Mix: another great mix! It'll keep you dancing all night long! 4)Shep's Classic 12" a pretty good 12" but not my fav on the cd. 5)Shep's Firece Deeper Dub: a decent version and not bad to be a dub. 6)David's Love dub: I am not a fan of Dubs, but this one is an execption. This is proably the best dub, I have heard. A must have!! 7) Sheps Deep Beats: This is proably my least favorite mix, on this cd. It is just Shep mixing some radmon beats, while Dubing Madonna saying, "Gretta Garbo", and is only 2:57 long.

Chris Lowe of the Pet Shop Boys once said that one of his favorite Madonna songs was "Deeper and Deeper" and he had good cause. Madonna is at her best when she is performing dance music, and this is an amazing dance song.
The single, released near the end of 1992, came at a time when the format of singles were just starting to change. Prior to 1990's Vogue most singles just included dubs, extended versions, and edits. As the 90's progressed artists started to take more advantage of the b-side mixes. By the time Bedtime Stories was released in 1994 Madonna was enlisting the likes of Junior Vasquez, Orbital, and Danny Tenaglia. Here we find the mixes are done by David Morales and Shep Pettibone. Both do decent jobs, but the real work of art is the original version. I don't think you can hurt this song in a remix, it's just that great. In 1995 Madonna released a collection of her greatest ballads. If ever she were to make a collection specific to her best dance tracks, thiis song would most definitely have a home, shining with the best - Into The Groove, Vogue, Music, Hung Up, Holiday...

Go Deeper And Deeper With Madonna And This Disco Classic!,

This review is from: Deeper & Deeper (Audio CD)
1992 was turning out to be a rather strange year for Madonna. She had released the album Erotica which suffered from poor sales, shifting just 5 million copies worldwide. She had also shocked the world with the book Sex, which was a publishing and marketing phenomenon selling more than 1 million copies worldwide. In December 1992, Madonna released the second single from the Erotica album. The song was called Deeper and Deeper, and it peaked at No.6 i the UK and spent nine weeks on the chart. The song was Madonna's first single not to go Top 5 in the UK since 1987, when "The Look Of Love" peaked at No.9.
Deeper And Deeper begins instantaneously with a classy beat and piano introduction. Madonna sings "Deeper and deeper and deeper and deeper...sweeter and sweeter and sweeter and sweeter," before breaking out into the joyous chorus, "I can't help falling in love, I go deeper and deeper the further I go. Kisses sent from heaven above, they get sweeter and sweeter the more that I know." The first verse then begins where Madonna sings, "When you know the notes to sing, you can sing most anything. That's what my mama told me. Round and round and round you go, when you find love you'll always know. I let my father mould me." Madonna then sings the bridge, "Daddy couldn't be all wrong (I'm not gonna let you slip away, I'm gonna be there). And my mama made me learn this song (You're gonna bring your love to me, I'm gonna get you) That's why..." And then the Queen on Pop works her way into the fabulous chorus, before going onto her second verse, then the bridge and the chorus once more. There's then a section in the song where Madonna's vocals are excellent and she sings, "Someone said that romance was dead, and I believed it instead of remembering what my mama told me, let my father mold me, then you tried to hold me, you remind me what they said. This feeling inside, I can't explain, but my love is alive and I'm never gonna hide it again!" The song then takes on a Spanish feel with guitars and maracas for a great instrumental. The chorus then kicks in again, and Madonna wails her heart out as the song dies down and the backing singers take over. The video to Deeper And Deeper is one of Madonna's best in my opinion. We first see some German guys talking crazy, before some balloons are released into the night sky, and we see Madonna driving in her car. She enters a club, and dances the night away on the dancefloor in some classy outfit. She also sits in a room and eats a banana with her girlfriends whilst watching a man do gymnastics in his underwear! Very strange, but funny all the same. All in all, this is a fantastic song from Madonna which - whilst was not a very big hit - is a great party song, and will get even the oldest of oldies up on their feet!

The Disco Ball Returns,
By
This review is from: Deeper & Deeper (Audio CD)
"Deeper And Deeper" is from her controversial "Erotica" album, released in 1992. This travels through Madonna's old days in the discos. Her highly catchy dance beats attract many to the dance floor. Such high musical quality brings this track to the level of many top disco songs from the 1970's. Her meaningful lyrics are sung wonderfully. She proves on this track that she is one of the most daring artists in mainstream, expressing issues that few dared at the time. This rightfully makes her one of the most respected female artists. Its theme about two men falling in love makes "Deeper And Deeper" one of the ultimate gay pride songs..."I can't help falling in love. I fall deeper and deeper the further I go."--Madonna, 1992 Its six remixes are also great. Every track is as catchy as the album version. This single is great for any ultimate Madonna fan. This will keep many dancing for many years to come. Those who want to hear more should also buy the album "Erotica", which features this song. Such combination is fun.

My Favorite Madonna Maxi Single,

This review is from: Deeper & Deeper (Audio CD)
Out of all the Madonna maxi-singles I own, this is the one I keep going back to. This is her best. Usually with a maxi you get a couple of good mixes. In this one, they are all good. Recommended to all Madonna fans.
