I loved In Too Deep the first in this series. And I just finished the sequel, Deeper, and thought it was fantastic! It was a page turner that I read in two sittings. Deeper was action packed, suspenseful, and heartbreaking, and with great love scenes. I adore the 2 main characters, Liz and Erin, together. There relationship is wrought with problems but their love is so great that the reader has a "gut" feeling they will find their way back to one another. I loved the true, warm feelings of kinship that evolve in Patricia and Erin's relationship. And the new relationship between Patricia and Audrey is fresh and exciting. I really liked the way Ms. Black brought in background details (not mentioned in the first book) from Liz's heart-wrenching past, which develops the character and endears the reader to her. I am intriqued by the open-ended conclusion which screams, "Book 3." I can't wait!

I love these characters! I'm hopelessly addicted! It was awesome to see them again. As in the first book, In Too Deep, the plot in Deeper was fast paced, intriguing, erotic and dark.
It kept me up all night. I can't wait for the next one!

Another powerful story by one of the best lesbian novelists Ronica Black.
Bold Strokes Books has again shown why it is the number one lesbian publisher. The author synopsis tells the story, so I see no need for me to repeat it. Powerful and well developed characters, intriguing and rapid plot. Grammatical errors are few. This is a great read, a definite must for any reader of lesbian romance, mystery, erotica or crime, this book has the lot.

Great Sequel!!,

Really great story line and the characters are well-drawn and fleshed out. Interesting love triangle and I liked how she showed that such triangles are complex and take time to resolve. She takes her time with the characters and the story line. Expertly weaves together the mystery with the romance. Will definitely read more books from this author!

What A Sequel It Is!,

This review is from: Deeper (Paperback)
Imagine loving someone who is suspected of murder and knowing they're innocent but being unable to prove it. That's exactly the situation Erin McKenzie finds herself in when her fiancée Liz Adams is being questioned by the police. Erin stands behind Liz, but fearing for her lover's safety, Liz pushes her away. She accomplishes this via reckless and insensitive behavior - essentially making love to a patron of her bar on the dance floor while Erin watches.
Erin immediately moves out of the house and separates their lives. However, she truly loves Liz and doesn't know what to do about the whole motley mess. Surprisingly, she temporarily moves in with Detective Patty Henderson - a woman with an intense crush on Erin, but with enough self respect to move on when the time is right. In the meantime, ex-cop Erin works every angle she knows to try to prove Liz's innocence. The book is filled with mystery, angst, happiness, devastation, you name it. Because this is a sequel, all the characters have the advantage of being fairly well developed and comfortable. The author even leaves the book open for a sequel with a twist on the very last page. (Here's hoping there is one.) Bottom line... Must read `In Too Deep' first to fully enjoy this sequel, but what a sequel it is. |
