Eric Bibb's latest CD, Deeper In The Well, has made it to the Top 10 list of the Folk Roots/Folk Branches blog.
Eric loves his guitars and tries to butter-up all airplane personnel.
"To all flight attendants- you are all wonderful, good looking, hard working, efficient and incredibly helpful human beings," he said. Of course, he has reason. He wants his guitar to travel with him. He's asked his guitar tech to make him a smaller one that would make the flight attendants a bit more cooperative.
Deeper In The Well is a masterpiece of acoustic blues. Eric has reached back to his early days playing on the New York folk scene and also the old styles which spilled out of the bayou of Louisiana.
When he was just 11-years-old he got back stage with Bob Dylan. The man told him, "Keep it simple, forget all that fancy stuff."
There's even a nod to Bob where Eric covers "The Times They Are A Changin'" on this recent disc.
Eric shows he can find solace in almost all types of good music.
"Music is more than the expert's description. Don't care if it's French, Hawaiian or Egyptian, if I feel it, that's good enough for me," he said.

This is a really enjoyable CD. I was worried at first, because Eric Bibb is so prolific and had just released a couple CD's earlier last year. But this one does not disappoint!! Mr. Bibb's vocals are smooth, his guitar work is classy and the band on this set is outstanding. In fact, I like this set as much as I like Booker's Guitar. Great Music!

Eric Bibb is already an acclaimed musician working in American roots music genre in general with strong accents on Blues whose acoustic style has been internationally recognized.

More rich by musical essence while being mild and intelligent, and modernized in terms of lyrics touching concerns like homelessness, alcohol, and poverty, Deeper In The Well guides listener's trip all over the rural America through seven original songs and covers of traditional tunes as well as those of Taj Mahal ("Every Wind In The River") and Bob Dylan ("The Times They Are A Changin'") featuring the bunch of excellent musicians including fiddler Cedric Watson and harmonica master Grant Dermody.

Eric Bibb follows his path, which he knows well but where he still discovers new, sharing it with a listener.

Personnel: Eric Bibb (vocals, guitars, diddly bow, banjo); Grant Dermody (harmonica); Dirk Powell (banjo, fiddle, mandolin, accordion, upright bass); Cedric Watson (fiddle, backing vocals); Danny DeVillier (drums, tambourine); Christine Balfa (cajun triangle); Jerry Douglas (dobro); Michael Jerome Browne (fretless gourd banjo, mandolin); Michel Pepin (electric baritone guitar).

This is another Eric Bibb gem. With a supporting cast of very talented musicians, Eric delivers a rythmic, soulful album of thirteen great tunes.

One of his better albums. Bibb sprouts some new blues roots along with new interruptions of traditional songs and covers

Eric is one of the best folk/blues singer-songerwriter-guitar players out there. And the sound quality of his albums is exceptionally good. As are abilities of his backup singers and band. Anyone who appreciates good music of this genre will love him. And this is one of his very best albums. They are all worth owning. Don't think twice, just buy it and enjoy.
