I love shooting games, always have. My happiest memories as a kid were shooting my first BB gun and later playing the original Duck Hunt. In the army I qualified as a sharpshooter with the M-16, and over the last few years I've spent a fortune in dollar bills playing Big Buck Hunter at my favorite watering hole.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good shooting game
If you like to just shoot animals without having to hunt them down forever then this game is for you. The only down side is that your planted in one spot. If you could move around a bit it would be a little better. Good game , but I would wait until it comes down in price a bit.

When we got a Wii the first game I bought was Cabala's. I hated it... it wasn't about shooting, it was a slow and hard to control simulation, where you walk through the pixel forest forever, and only get a shot off every now-and-then. The main challenge is not to die of old age before bagging your first deer. And I've looked at some of the other shooting games on the Wii, and most of them seem to have the same problem. And a few have mechanical problems... like aiming systems that don't work. I had just about given up, then I got Deer Drive.

Deer Drive is lots of fun. It doesn't pretend to be a simulation. Its basically see the animal, shoot, rinse and repeat. But its fast, its challenging, it works well, looks good and it has a cool simultaneous mode for two people or a party mode for up to four. Its not exactly Big Buck Hunter, but if you'd like one, you'll like the other.

The game isn't all that deep, and you won't want to play for more than a couple of hours at a time by yourself. But it makes for a fun afternoon or evening with friends, and even by yourself it can be a blast.

Five stars for fun
Four stars overall - I'd recommend this to anyone that likes shooting games. But it would have been nice to have an online mode, and maybe a slightly longer one player mode.

4.0 out of 5 stars Deer Drive Offers Fast Paced Pick-up-and-Play Fun, December 29, 2008

I'll try to keep it short and to the point.

Deer Drive is a blast (no pun intended). Not only is it about $10 cheaper than most hunting games, but it is the only simultaneous multiplayer hunting game on the Wii (at least to my knowledge). In addition to the single player mode and the 2-player simultaneous mode Deer Drive also features a "Party Mode" where up to 4-players can hunt down some woodland critters - sounds like fun, but I have yet to play this mode.
I would say that Deer Drive's best feature lies within its core style of gameplay. It captures nostalgic "arcade" feeling, which is a plus in my book...especially with the simulation type games out there like Cabela's where you have to go hunting animals down and if you miss you have to wait for like 30 minutes before something else comes along.

If you dig hunting games and own a Wii this is a definite must-buy and highly recommended for use with the Wii Zapper or a Nyko Perfect Shot (tested with both).

Have fun huntin' ;)

I love this game!

It's a Deer Hunting game that reminds me a lot of old school duck hunting. You are positioned in one place and the target animals run (well the ducks flew) back and forth across the screen.

You are given a limitless supply of bucks to shoot. Does are negative points and there's always the possibility of being mauled by a bear or moose and ending the round prematurely.

You use the Nunchuck to reload and to use breath control (one of the special bonuses you can get for shooting a marked animal)

In the advanced mode it's even more fun as you don't one-hit kill the animals. If you don't have a vital shot you need to continue to shoot them until you've done enough damage to take them down. Advanced mode doesn't get rid of the one-hit kill though, if you get a vital shot you'll still drop the deer in one. You even get bonus points for shotting birds, rabbits and squirrels.

Very fun for as many as four people. Compete with two players on the same board, play solo, or take turns with up to four players. I play this game with the Nyko Perfect Shot Gun and I find it very accurate and easy to use.

One negative, it can be a real pain in the butt if you don't know how to add player two!!

** Before you select two player mode, on the main menu screen press the Home Key and go into the Wii Remote Settings.

Here you can "Reconnect the Controllers"

Then simply reconnect the player one controller, and then add the player two controller.

Then back out of that menu and select two player vs. mode and you'll be ready to go! **

I really enjoy this game. This is the first "shooting/hunting" that I have played and I think it's great. The fact that I just started with this type of game and enjoy it the way I do, is awesome. I have no other game to compare to this one, so my review is strictly for Deer Drive. The game is intense, make you feel like you are really out hunting. It really gets you pumped up as you go further into the game. As you get better, you will not want to put it down. You feel like you are really in the hunt. Great game, especially for those like me that are just getting into this type of game. Thanks for a very good product.

My husband and I love Deer Drive. We think it is better then all other hunting games. This game is pure shooting, lots of deer coming out of the woods, you don't have to try to find them hiding somewhere. It is a lot more fun then having to walk and find the deer! They are running everywhere! Highly recommend this game!

I just placed an order for the third copy of this game. Every time I introduce it to a friend they want a copy!

Its a fun game with lots of action and a lot of variety in play. You can sit and play it alone or play it with others. It is challenging and its pretty deep. I can't recall where I am stalled right now but somewhere about the 28th level I keep running out of time.

If you like shooting games and or hunting you will probably like this game.

I bought this for my husband and we have just spent the past hour and a half playing it...so much fun and we have only started with the basic one player beginner mode and the hunting party mode...My husband an avid hunter enjoyed the game very much and is looking forward to playing it alot more...although he claims the beginner mode is fairly simple we found it does get harder as you go up in rounds...

We played the hunting party mode and that was fun challenging each other and better yet you use the same Wii remote so you don't have to have 2 nunchucks...As a beginner of shooting games I had a great time and it wasn't too hard in the beginner mode - in fact we had our daughters cheering us on - so it was great for the whole family - be it playing or watching...

The game recommends playing with the Wii Zapper and unfortunately none of the stores had one in stock so I picked up the Verge brand Wii Laser (1/2 price of the Zapper...and even less because I managed to get it at 50% off as well) and it works great with that - so great I am planning on picking up another one and finally going to buy that second nunchuck in order to play the challenge mode.

We don't have any of the other hunting games for the Wii so we have nothing to compare - I would say if you are looking for a great basic shooting style game that is fairly easy to control and do with the added bonus of being a group play activity this is a great game...plus the price is right at $29.99

What better way to spend an evening, than to shoot digital animals. Had a great time with this game. Gather around and..."squeeze, don't jerk the trigger"...good times.

Deer Drive

I highly recommend this game to anyone who likes target games.
this is a true hunt shooting experience MUCH more fun than the role play
hunting games that can be monotonous.
this game is exciting, competitive and fun for the whole family.
Great game!!
you earn points for animals shot time limit and goals to reach.
special animals give special points. I also recommend LINKS CROSSBOW to
go with it. buy two and play against a friend or family member.
it's also fun to just take turns trying reach a higher score and higher average.
