4.0 out of 5 stars A good hunting game with some inovation.
Deer Hunter is a decent hunting game where you can go online and play against other hunters for trophies such as points for the first/largest deer.

The graphics are detailed and need a decent rig to run everything on the highest settings. There are many ambient sounds in the game. Elk, Deer, Couger all sound correct in the wildlife viewer.

1.0 out of 5 stars This is and unfinished piece of garbage! Do not buy!
This game was also supposed to be created for the xbox 360, as well as the pc and was shelved for the console. The game feels very incomplete. It has tons of frame rate issues and the options for the game feel incredibly lacking. This is part of a long series of deer hunting games. There were always many more options as far as: calls, guns, camo, etc. Feels very stripped...

You can play on eleven maps. Ozark Mountains, Lake of the Ozarks, New Hamphire shooting range, Rocky Mountains, British Columbia, Findand are a few to mention. There is also weather settings and daytime settings, rainy/snowy, sunny, cloudy or dawn, morning, noon, dusk.

You can select from a wide range of weapons such as cross bows, bows, rifles, hand guns. There are also extra items you can choose from such as thermal optics, scopes with various zoom levels and of course a horse or ATV for transport.

Overall, DH Tournaments lets you play online with others which is a first for this type of game so I gave it a higher scroe for it's intovation. Also, the maps are detailed as are the animals that make them look almost life like. If you have interest in hunting or have kids that might be and have the hardware to run it Deer Hunter Tournaments is a good choice.

I know lots of people don't like this game anymore because Atari sold out to a bigger company so there is no more internet support. You can still play online all the same tho. The game is what it is. "No more patches" but as far as the game rating... Amazing. It is still a great hunting game and I love all the deer hunter series games. You WILL love this game if you like the Deer Hunter Series. Great graphics, Onliine Tournaments and single player hunting. It's all good!

5.0 out of 5 stars best game purchase for my husband, February 28, 2009

Out of all the christmas presents my husband recieved this year, this was not only the least expensive but also his favorite. He mentioned that this is a great game to get a younge man as it shows you the basics of what good hunting practices are like. Killing on the first shot, following the injured animal rather that going after another, ... He loves this game.

It has tons of frame rate issues and the options for the game feel incredibly lacking. This is part of a long series of deer hunting games. There were always many more options as far as: calls, guns, camo, etc. Feels very stripped down. With all of the problems with this game in comparison to the games that came before it there is no way I could recommend this game to anyone. Very Disappointed!!!!

This game is very enjoyable. The day I received it I played it for maybe 2,3 hours. They manual does not tell you hoq to end a hunt after you reach your bag limit. Which was a little frustrating at first. I realized all you have to do is click, "Go to main menu". Other than that this is a wonderful game. And you won't be disappointed!

Bought the game back on Dec. 20 and I still haven't been able to play it. I can't get it to run right on my computer. It says it will run on windows xp and that's what I have. I've been sending tickets back and forth with Atari support and I'm getting nowhere. It's a shame because it looks like a good game, what I've seen of it. The problem I'm having is that there's a bad lag when i try to play. It's unplayable that way and they can seem to tell me how to fix the problem.
