We have a large yard, a garden, and grandchildren, nieces and nephews who visit, so naturally, we've always kept a Radio Flyer around (the old-fashioned, REAL Radio Flyer -- red and metal). Kept outside, but tipped when not in use so it won't hold water, they have each lasted about ten years of fairly rough use.

This wagon, however, we can well imagine will be around for longer than that, easily. Quality construction and materials, a very durable paint job to resist rust, steel wheels ... as we put it together my husband couldn't get over it. "Look at this ..." "Look at that ..." "I love the steering mechanism, so simple!"

Then we put it outside next to our beloved Radio Flyer and could really see the difference. And when you roll them around the yard, you can even hear and feel the difference in quality.

We love our Radio Flyer, but we really love this wagon.

What don't we love? Well, the instructions weren't "Greek" to us, but it was mildly confusing in a couple of spots where I put something together and then had to take it apart again. Not a big deal, but some people might become frustrated. If you're scent-sensitive, maybe open the box outside and let it air out before diving in because WOW, that was some kind of chemical stink emanating off the tires. It dissipates, but it is thoroughly unpleasant before it does. What won't last? The wood sides. They're like balsa wood. But the way we use the wagon, we don't care. And finally, while I put it together, my husband (strong man) needed to tighten everything down.

Let me note, one reviewer (maybe more, I only saw one) commented that the plastic hand grip felt cheap compared to the rest of the wagon.

This wagon is nice looking and not horribly difficult to assemble. The problems, however, are many.

First off, the odor when opening the package is horrible. It smells like some combination of noxious pesticides and cheap oil. I've run into similar odors on other painted metal products sourced in China, and it is unpleasant. Even after being assembled and aired out for two days it still stinks badly enough that when get out of my car in the garage it is stored in, the smell is horrible.

Secondly, the multiple screws which go through the bottom of the pan in order to attached the various axles supports and braces are not the low, wide head style one should use in an application where human skin is going to come into direct contact. One of the most popular uses for a wagon like this is to tote small children around in, and the high and somewhat rough metal edges formed by the assembly bolt heads really are not the correct style for this application.

Finally, and worst of all in my opinion, the wood the slats are made out of is noticeably flimsy. It seems to me that these will take very little of the kind of climbing use and abuse small children will naturally inflict on a product of this type, The side and end slats and supports should be made from a strong hardwood such as oak, and they clearly are not. Even modest tightening of the attaching screws and nuts readily distorts and dimples the wood, and giving it a tug I'm pretty sure they are unlikely to last long if used with real children.

Assembly was not particularly hard for me, but I have a fully equipped work bench and numerous tools at my disposal.

My girls love this pink wagon! It was pretty easy to put together. I am not that "handy" and I had no problems putting it together. The inflated wheels roll over major bumps in concrete easily. They also handle "off roading" with ease as well. They absorb impacts quite a bit more than I expected. I have no problems steering it as it is fairly easy to handle. My kids love it and they will ask to be pulled around a lot. Typically they use it frequently if they are helping out with gardening or other outside chores. We put plants, dirt, toys, kids, pets and other things into it and it cleans up easily. It is very sturdy and seems like it can handle a lot of abuse which is very nice as we would like to keep it for a long time. Overall a great wagon for kids and a bunch of other things too!

Few brands have reached the iconic status of John Deere. Added to the long list of collectables and toys is this John Deere take on the little red wagon.
But make no mistake, this is not just a toy. Big enough to haul bushes/yard gear....or tote a couple of toddlers! Front wheels maneuver smoothly and all four rubber tires are heavily treaded. They have the wide heavy-duty look and feel you expect from a Deere branded item. Rounded corners on the stake sections are a nice touch.
Caution, it does not come all assembled, and I did hear a few choice mutterings under the breath of the designated assembler.

If you or a loved one is a John Deere fan, you can't pass this up. High quality, thoughtfully designed, and will probably be passed down to the next generation.
