This is a great bag- very sturdy, padded like crazy and has a good storage pocket. I usually prefer hard cases but from what I read, open backed banjos do not fit very well in most hard cases. Considering this was made specifically for my Deering banjo, it fits perfectly. Highly recommended, plus it's cheaper on Amazon than from Deering directly. Excellent buy!

Very nice. I should probably give it a 5, because it fit my Goodtime (basic model) like a glove. But so did the Superior case I started out with, and it was just as well made. (I got another backless banjo so I needed another gig bag and thought I might was well get one that says Deering on it, since the Goodtime is, technically a Deering. ) I wouldn't be surprised if there are better-padded cases. But I also know there are much worse cases, including several that are advertised for backless banjos, but are really proportioned for resonator banjos, so your backless banjo will slop around in them like a pillowcase.

By the way, the photo on this page almost looks like the photo for a resonator banjo bag. Amazon uses the picture posted by whoever posted a produce first, so it's possible that it is the wrong photo. Be sure and read the product description

Since I bought this bag, I A/B'd it with the equivalent Superior-branded bag.

Here's a quote from my post on the Superior bag's page.

The padding seems very similar in quality. The Superior case has two zippered compartments on front of the bag, while the Deering bag only has one. The Deering case's zippered compartment is bigger, but it's also flatter, so no sandwiches. Neither bag's compartments will hold, say, a lesson book. The backstraps on the Deering case are wrapped with vinyl which might make it easier on your shoulders, but these resonator-less tone-ring-less banjos weigh so little that that isn't a major concern. The backstraps on the Deering case can be removed, however, if that's of interest to you. Both bags have double zippers on the main compartment.

Great quality and made right here in the states. The zippers work very well. I wish the front pocket was a tad bigger so I could slip my banjo book in it without having to carry it around. I would make this purchase again.

It's not the most padded bag. It has a nice sewn-in emblem. The leather(ish) straps are okay; they tend to slip off my arms easily. What bothers me, though, is Deering's customer service.

After about a year of transporting my banjo back and forth from band practice, the bottom of the bag suddenly formed a sizable tear. I understand normal wear and tear, but really? I'm always careful with my beloved instruments, so it's beyond me how it happened. The last thing I need is for my banjo to rip through the bottom of the bag and onto the hard ground one day, so I contacted Deering customer service to let them know what happened. I was hoping for an exchange.

First of all, they took days to get back to me. I actually forgot I emailed them by the time I received my response. Not very professional. Then, their offer to me is 40% off PLUS $12.95 S&H, so $60 total. Seriously? $60 for a new case that shouldn't have torn in the first place? And you're charging ME shipping costs? Thanks for nothing, Deering. Unfortunately Deering has us by the you-know-whats because I have no choice but to buy this bag for my Deering Goodime. I'll take my chances with the tear for now.

I'm in love with country music. I gained a banjo. This bag was perfect for the banjo! It is practical to load the instrument and it protects him. I loved it!

Nice banjo case, I was incredibly hesitant about buying a padded case rather than a solid one. I have a padded gold tone case for a banjolele and it is a lot sturdier than this banjo gig bag- made me a bit disappointed with the banjo gig bag, but after dragging it around between school and home, I think this bag will do just fine. Fits the banjo very well (it is a deering goodtime classic)

It's a gig bag and it's well padded with what seems like a stiffener around where the body of the banjo is encased. The Deering name in gold makes the bag standout. Shoulder straps to back carry the banjo and the standard ballistic nylon carrying 'handles'. A well made padded gig bag.

I love this bag! Fits my goodtime like a glove. Well worth the money as it is very protectively padded and soft inside. The pocket fits all my accessories perfectly. The backpack straps are awesome! I highly recommend it.
