Rock The Bells (Original Version)!, March 5, 2011
This review is from: Def Jam Classics, Vol. 1 (Audio CD)
It is important to note that this CD contains the Original Version of Rock The Bells which is a completely different song than the one on LL's Radio. The recording is a hard-to-find B-side from the Rock The Bells single. It is 7:11 and it is a must own for fans of Radio and just as good or better than the other tracks from that album. It is also the recording where the "Jack the Ripper, King Hercules" sample comes from as featured on LL's later hit, Jack the Ripper (also featured on this compilation). The addition of some other less popular early Def Jam recordings like Original Concept's Can You Feel It, Davy D's Have You Seen Davy?, and Jazzy Jay's Cold Chillin' In The Spot make this purchase a no brainer for fans of early Golden Age Hip Hop.

Remembrance of my teenage and early young adult years. Russell Simmons CD remind me that I miss the real true HIPHOP and the fun I and my friends had in the 80's. I recommend this CD to the NEW GENERATION that has been cheated from REAL hiphop music. It's not about profanity nor the cars and women! It's about life. Life in the hood. NEW GENERATION learn from your history, it defines your future.
