Def Jam Icon is one of the shallowest games I've played in years and is highly repetitive and boring.

You get to create what your character looks like but you have to be male and you must be some shade of black/mixed. This character then goes through the trials and tribulations of becoming a big-shot music producer and you fight your way through all the confrontations in between.

Sounds like it might make a good game but it's VERY linear and pretty much every decision you make in the management half of the game has little or no effect on anything. How good would it be to download your own tunes onto the PS3 and mix them into new tracks for the game? Tough, you can't.

There are about 10 different environments to fight in but they all get rather tiresome after the millionth battle and there are never any really cool moments when you interact with the crumbling area. Def Jam Icon is all flash and no substance I'm afraid, I actually liked Def Jam Fight for NY a lot better.

I can not take this game seriously. Its too funny the way the environments move with the music. Its hilarious I just find it unbelievable that EA would put out a game this bad the controls suck so bad the computer always has the upper hand. If you can find this game for 99 cents and you don't have a coke machine close by to better spend this money its a good item to make your game collection look more full. It can be just like mine a decoration

my son likes this game....why i have no idea. lol i got it used for 6 or 7 bucks so no big loss , and i know the games old now. i just cant believe how def jam went from fight for ny , vendetta to .........this? the musics good. the fighting, controls, the build your own label story i mean TERRIBLE . ALMOST LAUGHABLE.

Being as though this game was the predecessor of Fight for the streets of new york, It had a lot to live up to. This game BOMBED. The controls are clumsy and convoluted, everything about it sucked...

This game was good! But much more needed to be added . Longer Storyline and more characters because the last series was better than this!More outfits, more lasting moments, more everthing!

This is the first video game i ve ever rated. I play and own many video games,. In terms of brawling def jam fight for ny was the best. i am only doing this rating bcos i have been and im still searching for the next gen version or any ps3 game that comes close to def jam fight for ny. Def jam icon is the totla opposite.I actually want to give it zero stars but thats impossible. The graphics are ok, not spectacular like heavenly sword or assassin's creed. just plain ok. ....The game play is downright horrible....long load time...lag times when u try to attack, the environmental hazards and dj controls are just corny and do not in anyways add to the game ( this is a true hiphop fan talking who listened to beatboxing...80's & 90's hiphop) this game does not cut it at all...i have tried so many times to love but unfortuantely ...it is just that poor...if EA games is smart the would produce a great next gen def fight for ny type of games and not this rubbish

Def Jam Icon was one of the earliest PS3 games I bought (and was one of the earlier releases) so it's aged considerably. It doesn't support rumble for the DualShock 3 and has some horrible load times. It's got a story mode which fans of these rappers would probably enjoy, but to me it's just silly. The main reason I bought the game was for the 2 player versus mode. It has a handful of locations to fight, the graphics are pretty good, and the destruction effects are great. The load times for versus mode are absolutely abysmal, it takes a really long time just to load your rapper at the select screen, and then the level itself takes additional time.

I'd say this game is worth $15 or so, it's fun to play with friends, but don't expect much depth.

Casi no lo he jugado, pero esperaba más, es muy extraño no se puede dominar bien a los jugadores, parece que funciona únicamente al ritmo de la música. Los gráficos son buenos. El tiempo de entrega fue bueno.

its an ok fighting game though a little bit on the old side of things, like no vibration etc and they could have made the game better in many other ways but besides that its an ok game to play with friends, and the story line is pretty interesting it hooks you into it, but i mean you can only have like 1 profile etc which really sucks...

i never owned a DEF jam game before but i played a few.

i personally thought this game was great for awhile. an alright storyline and VERY nice graphics.

the fighting was pretty weak though. it's not a bad game.

go rent it or buy it used...not new. it's just okay. you wont hate yourself if you rent/buy it used.
