Book Description

Def Leppard's unstoppable, anthemic hard rock has earned it sales of more than 65 million albums worldwide and a legion of dedicated fans. This fully authorized visual history of the band follows them from the new wave of British heavy metal to their massive Pyromania and Hysteria albums to the sustained power of their records and tours today. Legendary rock photographer Ross Halfin has been shooting Def Leppard since 1978, and his candid and definitive pictures have helped capture and shape the image of the band. Def Leppard includes more than 450 classic and unseen photographs, along with text from Halfin and stories and commentary by the band members and others.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Collection May 17, 2011

This is a big beautiful hardcover book that includes photos from the bands beginning right through to the present. It's exceptionally well priced, with color and black & white photos, band commentary, and a forward from Joe Elliott. What impresses me most is that you get a *lot* for the price, especially if you compare this book to the Sparkle Lounge photo books (available on the bands website/store). Ross Halfin has been photographing the band for years and he takes some great shots. The die-hards will recognize a lot these photos, but for me, it's great to have them all in one, well put together collection. This is a great visual history of a great band.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic book! May 14, 2011
Format:Hardcover|Verified Purchase
I love the pics in this book. Ross Halfin does have a way with taking excellent photos of Def Leppard and this book I will highly recommend for every Def Leppard fan. What makes this book great is that it takes us on a historical journey of Def Leppard from the late 1970s to today. And it's wonderful to see the changes in the band. The commentaries are great! It's nice to hear stuff from the band, as well as a few others. But there is only one sad thing to say about this book - I wonder what Steve Clark would have said if he were able to make a commentary (he passed away back in 1991). But I love this book no matter what! So all you DL fans go out and get this one!

This book is GREAT! You get alot for your money. A very well put together hard bound book at a reasonable price from Amazon.
The photos are amazing and really shows the progress of Def Leppard from the very early years up to the present.
I really like how some of the photos have a caption, from band members, explaining what's going on in the photo.
It felt like I was taking a trip down memory lane with the band.
Hands down the best Def Leppard book since 'Animal Instinct'.

If you want a Def Leppard "Visual History" book, it doesn't get any better than this one, especially if you like plenty of photos. This book is packed with photos that literally give you a "visual history" of the band. It also contains commentaries from the band members. This is a very well arranged book, very easy to follow, read and enjoy. It contains every Def Leppard Album, beginning with "On Through the Night", & continues with "High & Dry", "Pyromania", "Hysteria", and all the rest up through "The Sparkle Lounge" Album. It does not contain Def Leppard's most recent release "Mirror Ball" (A Double Live Album that was released to coincide with the release of this great book.)

It begins with a great forward by Joe Elliot. It contains a very good, lengthy commentary of thoughts by Rick Allen, and how he started out when he was only 16. Rick covers the tragedy of the automobile accident where he lost his arm, his great "come-back", and his overall views of his experiences with Def Leppard. There are also other fairly lengthy commentaries by the other current band members, throughout the book, along with short comments on some of the photos. Then it continues on through the various stages of the band. It has good coverage of the Pete Willis era of Def Leppard, along with the Steve Clark era of Def Leppard, and I'm very grateful for that, because I was & will always be a Steve Clark fan. I do believe he was one of the greatest guitar players of all time. He is still & always will be greatly missed. It continues on through the Vivian Campbell era of Def Leppard, and I certainly appreciate the coverage & addition of Vivian Campbell to the band. He certainly fit in very well.

5.0 out of 5 stars great book for fans May 17, 2011
Format:Hardcover|Verified Purchase
When I recieved my book, I was surprised by how big it actually is. Lots of great photos. Some funny and insightful captions by the band. Each member got a page or two to reflect on what the band means to them. Ross Halfin chimes in about half way through. Any fan would love this. One thing I noticed (which isn't a big deal) I didn't see (or didn't recognize) any "X" era photos in this book. A time to forget maybe?

Great book about the visual evolution of Def Leppard. The only low point is that it don't includes anything fro the X era, Rock Of Ages era, very few from Yeah Tour and very few from Sparkle Lounge...
Other than that, excelent work, great quality paper and hard cover. Nice job!!!
