If you like strategy games, this is the game for you.

A bit lacking at first in the area of graphics, but you can download free MODs that include a detailed topographical map of the Earth, a Nuclear Space battle between a few different planets, and an entire list of other mods.

This game is almost designed as Openware and there are a LOT of mods available both official and unofficial.

Once you load it you can give the cd to your friends to load as well because you don't need the cd to play.

It almost feels like an old stripped down Military Strategic Training simulation...so there is no problem with realism.

4.0 out of 5 stars Cool game, July 25, 2010
This review is from: Defcon: Strategic Nuclear War (Video Game)
This is a cool game that is fun and can be played quick and easy or get more difficult depending on your motivation to make it more difficult and strategic. You can download a free demo for single player or online play at the introversion website but you can't set any map options. So download it or jst buy it cause you won't regret it it is a cool game!!! I play it on a regular old computer no grahpics card or anything and it plays just fine, except when world scale is set to 200% or a full room of 6 online players are making lots of moves and blowing stuff up my comptuer slows down a bit. Really is a cool game, I gave it 4 stars cause often times my planes will fly across the world to try to get to an aircraft carrier out in the middle of the sea instead of land near by at an airstrip. Must be computer memory, so I have to keep a watchful eye at times. Doesn't break the game, just pisses me off when I see them heading for certain doom cause they don't have enough fuel to make it wherever they are going, which is not back to the closest base or carrier as they normally do.

The most intreging game I have ever seen since the C64 days. This game leaves you spell bound for hours on end. Use the Tutorial Demo to help you get used to the commands and launches. I would rate this game DEFCON at 150% above all my expectations

From a retro gaming standpoint, I really have enjoyed this title. Good game, and I recommend it to those who enjoy a good strategy game.

This game is simply not what I expected. I was looking for more interaction and not only a strategy game.
