I'm always ministered to by Corrie Ten Boom's works, and this was no exception. It focused quite a bit on deliverance/casting out demons, a topic I don't run across as often as I used to. It seemed pretty balanced, scriptually supported, and not overly sensational, and in spite of the oddness of the topic the intimacy and anointing of her walk with the Lord still came through. It's main failing is its length. If you are needing a book on deliverance, you probably only want this one as a supplement. If you are looking for theology or personal testimonies from Corrie's life, again this book is more supplement than primary source. Knowing this ahead of time, add it to your collection if you like her writing.

Splendid, Concise, Informative,
This review is from: Defeated Enemies (Paperback)
I bought this book as a total unknown. I'd just re-read The Hiding Place for the first time in years and it bothered me that Corrie didn't seem to address any of the Spiritual Warfare issues I would have imagined would have cropped up in her circumstances. Then, while scrolling through her Amazon author's list, I came across this title and bought it within five minutes.
It was littler than I expected, but being able to read the whole thing in less than an hour does NOT mean it isn't full to overflowing with solid basics. Corrie covers, simply and eloquently, the power we have been given as Children of God and fellow heirs with Jesus. Having studied this a bit, I found she focused pretty much on one element of demonization/deliverance ministry-- that of dealing with witchcraft, fortune-telling, sorcery, etc-- but God gives us all our areas of expertise, and this is hers. I wholeheartedly recommend this to all who are trying to understand who they are in Christ. It's a primer in both senses: in teaching the basics, and in creating an excitement to walk in the same authority. Read it!

You will enjoy this book. I have read all of Corrie's books and each one is so anointed. I came away with a closer walk with our Lord, each time I finished one of Corrie's books. Her stories are encouraging and uplifting, and offers such wisdom, from the lessons she has learned from our Lord, and people. Enjoy!

Corrie's books are always so inspirational and practical. This book is a collection of events in Corrie's life where she had to deal with people who had turned to the occult and were finding it difficult to seek God. Corrie minces no words, pointing out that they had turned to the Enemy and that they must repent of it and then ask God to defeat these enemies. As always, Jesus is Victor and these stories show how a Christian can put on the entire armour of God and do spiritual battle for themselves and on behalf of others.

Principles and Stories to Prepare for Spiritual Battles,
This review is from: Defeated Enemies (Paperback)
This short pamphlet helps equip the Christian for faith and victory in spiritual warfare. The deceased author, a noteworthy teacher and evangelist, presents a basic biblical view of the spiritual topography (God, Satan, and demons) and how to resist the devil and experience freedom and victory through the work of Jesus Christ and the power of the Holy Spirit.
Ms. Ten Boom salts the text with many pertinent Scriptures along with accounts of her own dealings with the realm of the demonic. She challenges her readers to know the power of God and to not give the enemy a foothold through any sin, especially that of involvement with the occult. If she were alive today, Corrie would be warning Christians about the spiritual dangers of yoga, since it is a form of Hindu occultism. (On this, see the DVD, "Yoga Uncoiled.") Sadly, many Christians are involved in this ungodly practice and are thus opening themselves to demonic influences. I recommend this booklet as an encouragement to Christians to lay hold of the power of the blood of Christ in their struggles against their enemy, the Devil (1 Peter 5:8-0; Colossians 2:14-15; 1 John 3:8). For a more advanced treatment of the topic, see Gary Kinamman, "Winning Your Spiritual Battles" and Ed Murphy, "Handbook on Spiritual Warfare."
