"Cleaning House" for a healthy Christian life,
By A Customer
This review is from: Defeating Dark Angels: Breaking Demonic Oppression in the Believer's Life (Paperback)
This book was like a key that I used to unlock the chains that had held me in sprirtual bondage for over 20 years. In the bible, Ephesians tells us that our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers and authorities in the spiritual realm. By confronting the demonic presences in our lives, we can, using the Power of the Cross, defeat these forces and be victorious. This book is easy to read (riveting, actually) and you may find yourself crying along with stories that may seem so very similar to your own. relating to others who have sufferred as you, and have won their battles through soul searching, and truth seeking. I highly encourage you to read this book if you are spiritually grounded in the bible, and are still feeling opressed. A Christian who is oppressed is ineffectual, and miserable; just the way Satan wants you! Break his "external" hold on you, and get rid of the "spiritual garabage" keeping you from finding peace in your life. Don't let the fear of the very subject of demonic forces keep you from fighting back. you can, and will, be free, with God's help and these valuable insights.

Overcoming Demonic Influences in the Believer's Life,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Defeating Dark Angels: Breaking Demonic Oppression in the Believer's Life (Paperback)
This book focuses on demon oppression and spiritual warfare in the believer's life (as opposed to demonic influences in the lives of unblievers), making it a unique manual. It is written by a formerly Baptist minister, now with Fuller Theological Seminary, so it is ideal reading for those Christians who come from a non-charismatic background who believe that Christians cannot be bothered by demons. It is well-grounded in Scripture, and calmly written, making it markedly different than some sensationalistic books that hype up this area and focus on excessive emotionalism. If you do not believe that demons can affect Christians, or if you suspect they can, but don't know how, this is the book for you. It is meaty, and in-depth, repeating common themes so that they can be absorbed, not just read about. If you are a Christian and have been bothered by recurring or troublesome problems in your life and/or those of believers around you, and can't figure out why, this book will have many answers for you. I think it should be required reading for every committed believer, or every believer who wants to be an overcomer, truly free in every area of his/her life. The main purpose of the book, aside from information and understanding about this area, is to motivate believers to have the courage to step out in ministry in this important area. It establishes a Scriptural basis for this, and walks you through beginning in basic, everyday ministry. I learned so much, because I knew little about demons, but was very afraid to find out. This book allays your fears, and teaches you the truth from the Word of God so that you will not be afraid. It gave me the courage to step out; in fact, today my husband and I prayed about some issues and it worked! Of course, God always comes through, but it was exciting to have the encouragement and training so that I could have the confidence to take this important first step---trying for the first time. If you are in any type of ministry, even "just" in your home to your family, and are afraid to begin or don't know where to start, this is the book for you.

A Powerful Perspective on Effective Deliverance,
This review is from: Defeating Dark Angels: Breaking Demonic Oppression in the Believer's Life (Paperback)
Charles Kraft does not give in to usual sensationalism found in other books on this controversial topic. He refreshingly speaks to the need for healing in one's life to end unwanted entrenchment by demonic oppression. Akin to the old adage regarding burning the down the barn to get rid of the mice, he asks the question: Why not clean out the trash so that the hungry rats go elsewhere? By analogy Kraft effectively argues that the trash in our lives-whether apparent or not-encourages demonic encroachment in the first place. If not dealt with, the "trashy" condition often results in loss of deliverance.A powerful book to aid in the ministry of deliverance or just understanding what you might be stepping in, get it.

Excellent Book on Spiritual Warfare and Deliverance!,
By Reader (Malden, MA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Defeating Dark Angels: Breaking Demonic Oppression in the Believer's Life (Paperback)
For those of you delving into the area of deliverance ministry, this book is a must-read. Charles Kraft is an expert in his field. This book is well-written, thought-provoking, and concise, as well as factual. Much of his theory is based on actual case studies, which give it life. He teaches us how to 'deliver the captives' from bondage thru the redeeming power and love of Jesus Christ. After reading this book, the movie, "The Exorcist" appears fraudulent. Who says deliverance ministry has to be so sensational and violent? Kraft believes that because Jesus Christ is Lord and because satan and his kingdom submit to His Lordship, all that sensationalism in exorcisms is unnecessary. This book not only serves as an excellent reference guide for my ministry, but has enabled me to understand the love, power, and compassion that the Trinity God feels for those who are demonically oppressed. I highly recommend this book to Christians and Non-Christians alike. It is a well-spring of spiritual truth, hope, and knowledge. I especially recommend it to those who are demonized. Perhaps the message in this book will give you the courage to seek spiritual freedom and the desire to establish a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Keep up the good work Mr. Kraft. May God bless you in your ministry.

Deals with myths, deliverance, enemy tricks and strengths.,
By A Customer
This review is from: Defeating Dark Angels: Breaking Demonic Oppression in the Believer's Life (Paperback)
This book is an excellent source of information for delivering people from demons. Using the analogy of rats being attracted to garbage, so are demons attracted and attached to emotional garbage. Deliverance involves "inner healing" (getting rid of the emotional garbage that demons attach themselves to) and then getting rid of the demons. After inner healing, expelling demons is then much easier because they no longer have a "legal" right to remain in the person. Emotional garbage may include unforgiveness, abuse, previous occult involvement, inherited curses, etc. Author also illustrates how demons can be cast out as a group, can be weakened, and can be used as sources of information during the emotional healings. Finally, the author gives unusual events that can happen in a deliverance session and how to handle them.

First class Biblically based 'manual' relating to all aspects of Spiritual Warfare.Fully illustrates the authority provided to believers in the Name of Jesus and also covers all aspects of the deliverance ministry. Practical experience and knowledge is referred to in how demons operate, how to resist their influence and how to cast them out. A must read on this subject. A subject which can cause confusion and fear if approached incorrectly. Highly recommended.

The Most Helpful book on the Subject,

This review is from: Defeating Dark Angels: Breaking Demonic Oppression in the Believer's Life (Paperback)
I have found this book to be the most helpful in deliverance ministry over the last 9 years. If I could only recommend one book about deliverance, this would be it. Dr. Kraft does a great job of describing what is going on AND how to do it. This guy is not just theory, but writes how to do it as well. A book you will go back to time and again. Also I would highly recomment Dr. Kraft's Deep Wounds Deep Healing.

CALL ON HIS NAME DOT COM,
By ROB (Newark, DE - USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Defeating Dark Angels: Breaking Demonic Oppression in the Believer's Life (Paperback)
This was the first book I ever read on the topic of deliverance. I credit it for being the influence that got me involved in my current ministry of deliverance in inner healing teams. Charles has a truly unique way of putting some things, for example: "Deliverance can be fun". Aside from that, and his preoccupation with having conversations with demons through their "hosts", this is a must read for anyone who wants to know anything about deliverance. The examples are riveting and ring true. His writing style is good enough to keep you interested through some slow sections of the book. This is a very controversial topic in the body of Christ today, but it won't be for too much longer, as time draws to an end. The great harvest to come will bring many hurting, wounded and, to put it bluntly, deeply sinful people into a knowledge of Jesus. They will need all of the help we can give them. Of course, God is still sovereign. If you want to learn about deliverance, read this book. If you are an opponent of deliverance, don't waste your time with this one. It is not so much an apologetics of deliverance, as a how-to book, and it is a good one at that.

Must Read in Spiritual Warfare,
By
This review is from: Defeating Dark Angels: Breaking Demonic Oppression in the Believer's Life (Paperback)
I first read this book the summer of 1990. At the time, I was in a course at Fuller Theological Seminary that Chuck (Charles Kraft) was teaching. Over the next couple of years, I was able to get to know Chuck fairly well and took other courses from him.
This book is a good distillation of what he teaches those that will one day be pastors, teachers, missionaries and evangelists. Chuck wrote this based on personal experiences that began during his missionary field experience in Africa more than 40 years ago, but which did not come to a head until John Wimber (Vineyard Christian Church founder) taught a course at Fuller in the late 1970s that Chuck and C. Peter Wagner (another expert in Spiritual Warfare with books out) monitored and evaluated. From that began a series of investigations and the development of a ministry. This book provides a solid theological and biblical base for the ministry and informs readers of the dangers and excitements of such a ministry. Further and more importantly, it lays out a solid basis for understanding the "enemy" (a term that most in spiritual warfare prefer to "demon" or "satan") and how to combat the enemy. It also contains good discussions, in easy to understand terms, of how "demonic possession" (a misnomer) comes about. It also discusses the authority of the believer that is granted from the Lord Jesus Christ. I highly recommend this book - and still (2003) refer it to others. While it is dated, or should I say that Chuck and Peter (and others) have more updated materials available - to better grasp them - one should start with this book

A must for in-depth fighting of dark powers,
This review is from: Defeating Dark Angels: Breaking Demonic Oppression in the Believer's Life (Paperback)
This book re-iterates some of the points from Dr. Kraft's other book Deep Wounds Deep Healing, however it does go through in detail about the categories of demons, their powers and how to detect and fight different levels of demons. It is very helpful to anyone involved in this type of ministry.
