Beenie Man was born Anthony Moses Davis in Jamaica in 1973. The singer and producer can justly claim to be the King of the Dancehall.

He recorded his first single in 1981 (aged 8) and within two years he had released his debut album The Invincible Beenie Man: The 10 Year Old DJ Wonder. There would be something of a hiatus until he reached international prominence.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Dancehall CD!, December 21, 2010
This review is from: Defend It (Audio CD)
This has to be one of the best dancehall cd ever recorded from Beanie Man! If you don't like the music THEN DONT LISTEN TO IT!. I've never heard of somebody dying over music ever. Saying music make people kill each other, then it means every concert there would be a death and i never heard of a kid in the suburb listening to Snoop Dogg and then join a gang or Gucci Mane music make someone purchase narcotics to sell. It seems like some of these critics that review these cd target pacific artist to mess up there sales and make them not able to support there family and then enter a life of crime.

1.0 out of 5 stars He advocates the killing of gays, January 31, 2007
This review is from: Defend It (Audio CD)
In his music, Beenie Man advocates killing gays. More than
30 gays have been killed in Jamaica, where he comes from.
His music has lots of influence there. In some cases mobs
sang his anti-gay songs while they killed a man who might have been gay.
When asked to apologize and change his ways he wrote a song about how he
would not apologize. If someone advocated the killing
of Blacks or Jews, they would not be tolerated. It seems strange
that in the 21st century the world still tolerates someone
who advocates the killing of gays. I suspect that the world
would not tolerate this if white men were getting killed.
Please don't support him by purchasing his music.
