Buyer Beware,

This review is from: Defender Pro 5 In 1 (CD-ROM)
This Defender Pro is itself really a virus. Just try to remove it. The company won't help you. It makes your PC run miserably slow and probably doesn't actually detect viruses. Don't infect your computer with it!

Good Product,
This review is from: Defender Pro 5 In 1 (CD-ROM)
Read some of the negative reviews, wonder how PC literate they are? Have used it for 3 years and it performs well. My only complaint is that a couple of times it erronously said subscription has expired, and I had to reload the software. The 15-in-one is a better buy than the 5-in-one product.(Good for 24 months and 3 computers.)

Use at your own Peril,

We had problems from the installation stage forward -- error messages, problems with activation, then not activated, activated again, then not activated -- this went on for days. Contacted email support and got 5-PAGES of problem-solving methods to try. Once that was fixed, the system slowed to a screeching halt and we could barely access even one site on the internet before the system crashed and forced continuous system reboots (for days we couldn't even use email). This went on for days and then finally having had enough, we system-restored to a point BEFORE the software was ever on the computer, emailed customer support to advise how to get our money back (30-day guarantee, thank goodnees!), and now the computer is running much much faster, and have had no problems at all accessing and staying on the internet. Use Defender Pro 5-in-1 at your own peril!

License last 11 months, the software stopped working even showing that I had 30 days left. Then got message showing that the computer was not protected. This was a good software, not any more...

Perfect for the job and more.,

I bought this at a retail store and was wondering about why it was so cheap.
First off, I thought it was amazing that it was licensed for 3 computers. It made the cost a little more skeptical, but I just thought that it was because other companies charge more. It took awhile to load and install on my computer, but the end result is amazing. The PC Repair utilities that it comes with optimize my computers performance greatly. The registry cleaner is the fastest I've ever seen. Unlike Norton and Mcafee, I didn't notice anything about how slow having Defender Pro is. It really wasn't. I don't get any occasional crashes (like the previous person) and I get updates even faster and more often then the other competitors. Even though the firewall at first annoys me buy saying everything is of warning and we should alert you, it is supposed to do that. That is why firewall exists. Overall for the money and the expected results, I am amazed. This does exactly what the other competitiors does and more. For what it is worth here and at a retail store (Such as Best Buy or Walmart), I would highly recommend buying this. It works great.

Wouldn't recommend,
This review is from: Defender Pro 5 In 1 (CD-ROM)
I would not recommend this program to anyone, the program is a virus in itself. My boyfriend bought and installed it on his computer, ran a program within in it called File Shredder, which not only started deleting his files on his hard drive but also deleted system file out of the Windows directory, A file shredding program is designed to get rid of any files that you deleted off of your computer, so recovery program can't retrieve them again, not delete the whold hard drive. So buyers beware, if you want to completely rebuild your computer, then this is the product to purchase, otherwise look into something else.

Watch It! Negative reviews abound...,

I'm sitting here looking at my shrink-wrapped copy of Defender Pro 2009 5-in-1 with a sick feeling in my stomach. Before trying to install it I went surfing for reviews. The news is bad. So I have no direct experience with this product, but I have decided not to attempt to install it. I recommend you do your own homework before you buy.
Reviewers generally fault Defender Pro products on three major counts. Technical support is hard to reach and not helpful - you're on your own. The software crashes systems on installation and frequently during use, especially bad if you attempt to load it onto a system infected with a virus. Some people say that loading it onto a known clean system works better. Most people say it doesn't help. Worst in many respects, Defender Pro products are extremely hard to unload. Put this on your system and decide you don't like it. Then try to get it off. Ordinary means to uninstall do not work. You may wind up having to strip Defender Pro products from the registry file (warning - touching your registry file without a proper software tool kit is risky - you could wind up losing all data and reloading your operating system). You may have to buy a new piece of software just to get Defender Pro off your system. How much of this bad news actually applies to Defender Pro 2009 5-in-1? I don't know, but I don't want to find out with my system on the line. It goes back unopened. I recommend you not buy it. If you buy it I suggest you have it installed and checked by a trained technician at your local computer shop. Let someone else wreck his blood pressure, it's worth the extra money. |
