About the Author

In Brenton's own words: I love to read. When I was a kid I consumed books almost as much as I consumed food. A high school teacher, Mr. Judd, encouraged me to write my own stories. I'll never forget the day he had me read my version of "Beowulf" in front of the whole class. That's when my love of reading began to evolve into a love of writing. My love of reading continued through college, where I earned a bachelor's degree in business. My writing creativity was revived by my son, Joseph, when he asked me to tell him stories as we drove to Grandma's house. I have always had a fascination with all things outer-space. Growing up in rural Herriman, Utah, I also developed a love for rock hounding, nature and the mountains, which I have passed on to my son Joseph; our adventures provided inspiration for the book. I wanted to write stories showing a family spending quality time together that would appeal to readers of all ages.

My 11 year old son read and highly recommends this book!

His favorite part was the adventure Thomas, Sofia, Joseph, and Sharianna had all over the world and beyond. They travel in the Robo-ship to the moon, Great Wall of China, Mariana Trench, Antarctica, etc.

I love that my son was learning as he was reading. He didn't want to put the book down. "Gems" of knowledge tucked in a riveting story.

He hopes there will be a second book so the adventure can continue! Me too!

I enjoyed this book very much, and highly recommend it! It has great descriptions, exciting on-going adventures, interesting mix of fiction and science, clever, clean, full of new ideas, a story to be enjoyed by all ages. Defenders of Destiny held my interest such that I read it quickly, shortly after receiving it. The length of the book is perfect, to make it accessible to younger readers, and a fun read for busy adults. I plan to give this book for gifts. As a teacher, I am always looking for quality books, and this one is fantastic!

I had fun reading this book from front to back. After each chapter I had to read a little more to know what was going to happen. For anyone who loves adventure and science fiction, this book is great. It is especially good for parents to share with their children. Readers of all ages will love it. I am looking forward to the next installment. This is for anyone who wants to travel to the stars and has the imagination to get there.Defenders of Destiny: the Discovery of Astrolaris (Volume 1)

I really enjoyed this book. It was very exciting and even had a few surprises. The thing I liked the most was all of the little pieces of information snuck in. There is science, history, geography, and more through out the whole book. I learned so much while being taken to new places. This book is a perfect gift for anyone child or adult who likes to read and learn. Give it a read, you will love it.

A Kid's Review on March 1, 2011
Format: Paperback
Defender's of Destiny is very interesting. I hope there a sequel because I want to figure out what they do with Astrolaris. I think people should read this book because it is interesting, fun, funny and adventurous. I still wonder where the robot comes from and I want to figure out what made the obelisks. I liked this book a lot. Thanks Brenton for a great story!
