Carol Blackhurst grew up in rural Arkansas. For 30 years, she worked as a mainframe computer programmer. She has been an avid reader of science fiction and fantasy since she first picked up an Isaac Asimov novel her father left on the coffee table. She first started writing just after college. Her series is an unusual blend of science fiction and fantasy.

The Defenders of Rades has a well developed story line, with many unexpected twists. I felt that I truly knew the characters, they were so well developed. Carol Blackhurst did an amazing job of blending science fiction and fantasy while creating this book. It has a very unique feel to it, and I highly recommend it. This story kept me up later then I had planned for many nights.

Defenders of Rades Peaked my interest right away and kept me turning the pages. The characters are believable, likable and interesting. The author held my attention with the plot development and its twists and turns. The pace was fast enough to keep me turning the pages till late at night while fueling my imagination. My thoughts kept returning to the story and characters even though I'd put the book down for a bit and well after I'd read the last page. I anticipate the upcoming sequel with enthusiasm.
