This is an impact weapon,
This review is from: Self Defense Impact Kerambit Personal Protection Tool (Misc.)
The Travel Wrench is designed as an impact weapon, modeled after the kerambit. Designed to be an improvised weapon with the premise that it can be carried as you travel...airport security will no longer allow knives, fingernail files, etc. on board. As a matter of fact try to bring a drinking straw or plastic silverware thru and I'll bet TSA confiscates the items before letting you pass....silly, as you can get a new straw or silverware once you have entered the airport foodcourt.
Anyway, I have successfully traveled carrying my wrench on numerous occassions without incident. Designed by Close Quarter Combat instructor Kelly S. Warden who is also considered to be a Senior blademaster of modern Arnis. Copy and paste the following links for information regarding better use of the tool: [...]

This thing is amazing!!!! Been shown some of the "normal" kerambit techniques and while the slash movements wont have the same affect the strikes with this thing are in a word, DEVASTATING!!!! Even a simple downward block using the bottom of the fist rather than the palm or the forearm have real impact and lots of pain. Excellent product for the price and fantastic service and delivery. All in all 10 stars out of 5!

I carried this tool for years on my plain cloths LE job. I had my work keys attached to the top ring and comfortably slipped the tool into my waist band with the keys out over my belt. It was hidden, but handy. It always went into court with me when I had to put other weapons in the lock box. I never had to use it for defense, but the effect of it being in my hand, with my keys hanging from it, always got a confused look from crooks I contacted day to day. They did not know what I had in my hand, but they seemed worried about it. The tool is of quality construction and affords a variety of striking techniques. I bought it for the L shape, figuring it affords a good throat/chin hook if you strike an upper cut. Between the top ring and L hook, you are sure to hit something and not break a knuckle. Good tool for a cop or medic. It gives you the advantage in a fight, but not lethal to you if you if an adversary grabbed it. It is also a great tactical aid if you have to turn a bandana into a torniquet. Good twisting device right there on your keys. I liked the tools style, comfort and utility over the kubaton I had carried for years before.
