5.0 out of 5 stars This is an impact weapon
The Travel Wrench is designed as an impact weapon, modeled after the kerambit. Designed to be an improvised weapon with the premise that it can be carried as you travel...airport security will no longer allow knives, fingernail files, etc. on board. As a matter of fact try to bring a drinking straw or plastic silverware thru and I'll bet TSA confiscates the items before...

3.0 out of 5 stars Good but not great.
The fit and finish of this product was fine. There are few mold lines and no manufacturing marks that make the grip uncomfortable. Whereas the defense wrench fails to look like a tool, this product actually succeeds. The Kerambit PPT could be a tool. However, it is nowhere near as effective as a self defense impact weapon. The Travel Wrench is designed as an impact weapon, modeled after the kerambit. Designed to be an improvised weapon with the premise that it can be carried as you travel...airport security will no longer allow knives, fingernail files, etc. on board. As a matter of fact try to bring a drinking straw or plastic silverware thru and I'll bet TSA confiscates the items before letting you pass....silly, as you can get a new straw or silverware once you have entered the airport foodcourt.

Anyway, I have successfully traveled carrying my wrench on numerous occassions without incident.
Designed by Close Quarter Combat instructor Kelly S. Warden who is also considered to be a Senior blademaster of modern Arnis.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good for consealment and effect, January 25, 2012
This review is from: Self Defense Impact Kerambit Personal Protection Tool (Misc.)
I carried this tool for years on my plain cloths LE job. I had my work keys attached to the top ring and comfortably slipped the tool into my waist band with the keys out over my belt. It was hidden, but handy. It always went into court with me when I had to put other weapons in the lock box. I never had to use it for defense, but the effect of it being in my hand, with my keys hanging from it, always got a confused look from crooks I contacted day to day. They did not know what I had in my hand, but they seemed worried about it. The tool is of quality construction and affords a variety of striking techniques. I bought it for the L shape, figuring it affords a good throat/chin hook if you strike an upper cut. Between the top ring and L hook, you are sure to hit something and not break a knuckle. Good tool for a cop or medic. It gives you the advantage in a fight, but not lethal to you if you if an adversary grabbed it. It is also a great tactical aid if you have to turn a bandana into a torniquet. Good twisting device right there on your keys. I liked the tools style, comfort and utility over the kubaton I had carried for years before.

This product was perfectly described and I got exactly what I ordered. The plastic seems very strong, the size is good and the finish of the product is excellent. I have no doubts this would be an effective tool in a struggle. I think it's going to take a lot of abuse to wreck this item and I cannot see any part of the human body being able to break it. I am very pleased that I ordered this and will trust it to work in a situation, if I were to ever encounter one. No need for anything less than 4.5-5 stars for this.

It is so thin that it is hard to get a secure grip. Instead of the shock from the blow being transferred into the striker's arm, the tool tends to move about in the hand. This is disconcerting, as the lack of a secure grip limits the strength of the strikes that can be offered. I am certain that this is a consequence of the design: I do a lot of grip specific training, can close a 2.5 CoC, and have the supporting strength to hold 405 lbs for 30 second with a clean grip. This product is good if you want something that can be pressed into service as a defensive tool, but that actually looks like a tool. Then again, one could get the same or better results from using a hammer, wrench, chisel, screw driver, mallet, or pair of pliers in this manner. The main advantage that this has over such makeshift options is that the PPT is lighter. In sum, this is a good idea but the design is simply not perfect.

Stay safe and be watchful,

5.0 out of 5 stars Little Fang, Big bite!!!, January 12, 2011

This thing is amazing!!!! Been shown some of the "normal" kerambit techniques and while the slash movements wont have the same affect the strikes with this thing are in a word, DEVASTATING!!!! Even a simple downward block using the bottom of the fist rather than the palm or the forearm have real impact and lots of pain. Excellent product for the price and fantastic service and delivery. All in all 10 stars out of 5!

Make them send you a picture (notice its a GRAPHIC? The graphic badly misrepresents the SIZE) and read the side of it; its a WRENCH, not a personal protection device. Its also way too big to comfortably handle by an average person and nearly impossible for any woman.

REC: DON'T BUY. December 26, 2011- buy with caution.

I said "way back when" Caveat Emptor and my opinion remains. This "tool" is good for someone with self-confidence and some experience in hand-to-hand combat (street fighting.) Its not much use to someone too afraid to use it and has no experience. This additional comment is Dec 26, 2011- she asked me for more pepper spray- not another kerambit. She had two encounters with testosterone-poisoned males and didn't even consider the kerambit.

1.0 out of 5 stars Not for self defense, March 5, 2011

It's a plastic wrench. Look carefully at the hexagonal holes. It has nothing to do with self defense, yes it would evade a metal detector, but so would a rubber ball. And there is no way to fit it in your hand to make a serviceable pair of "brass" knuckles. I would have returned it, but it's always nice to have a wrench in your glove box. But calling it a "Self Defense Impact Kerambit Personal Protection Tool" is more than misleading, it is a lie.
