About the Author

Born and raised in St. Louis, Missouri, Timothy received Christ at age nine. He was brought up in a traditional Pentecostal church, but later joined the Word of Faith community in 1980, and began serving in music ministry in 1984. In 2000, the Lord began to deal with Timothy about operating in the gift of teaching. Shortly thereafter in 2001, God opened a door when the pastor of a nondenominational charismatic church, asked him to serve as an associate minister and worship leader. As a minister of the gospel, Timothy Sims is an insightful and inspirational Bible teacher. He is a graduate of the International College of Bible Theology-St. Louis, where he received a Bachelor of Theology and is now an instructor for the college. He received his ordination as a licensed minister through American Mission Teams, an international ministry based in Norris City, Illinois. Minister Tim Sims is also a gifted singer-songwriter and psalmist committed to the ministry of worship through music. Over the past twenty-five years, he has served as a worship leader for evangelical and charismatic ministries alike. Through the ministry of God?s word and music, Timothy has been granted the opportunity to observe the impact of charismatic ministry and teaching upon the traditional Evangelical Christian community and Charismatic/Word of Faith community alike. It is this dual exposure as a lay leader in ministry that has provided the inspiration and education for this book.Timothy and his wife Kimberly are the proud parents of three wonderful children and are committed to the ministry of marriage and family.

In defense of the word of faith is a book that will keep your attention and make you think about where the church has been and where the church is going. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book in one setting. This book will not tickle your fancy but it is a history book of today. This book has substance and is yet easy to read and understand. It is not a feel good or self help book. I truly recommend this book to anyone who is serious about the study of the word, the church and tomorrow. I believe we will hear more from this new author in the future.

In Defense of the Word of Faith captures my life's story. When I first read the book written by Timothy Sims, I thought I was reading my biography. Brother Sims has captures the movement with great accuracy. I can make this statement because I grew up in this movement. I have seen the difficulties and experienced its wonder. Brother Timothy does not look at the movement through rose-colored glasses. He exposes both sides of the movement.

However, the book does not only look at the vibrant history of the Movement. It looks towards the future of the Movement. Where is this "Movement" headed? I believe that Brother Sims has clearly seen the future path of the "Movement."

This is a great book that I highly recommend!
